Racism in Eve, is there a punishment?

Comparing RL to a video game is a pointless excercise. In a bar you're alot less anonymous. They can see you to hit you. It changes peoples attitudes alot. As I said in a now gone post, I don't like racism myself. Eve seems to have a much more cavalier attitude to it than any other game I've played, and no i don;t condone it. But even after the clean up I can still see this thread going south.

I would just use the block feature. Its the internet. Your going to see buttholes and idiots come out of the woodwork just like you would if you randomly met 2000 folks on the street. Block him and you don't have to even know he exist.

Little kids easily feel offended by things they are taught not to accept.

We should accept the issue the OP has and just let it be,
because no matter what, little kids are little kids.

They'll grow up ... eventually.


Now ... what i really like is the fact that the little kid got taught well in reporting anything that's deemed "bad" by society,
completely ignoring if the actual recipient of the N-word actually had a problem with it and deemed it worth
reporting it. Not a single mention about how the recipient felt. None. Nada. Null.

It's typical "SHE'S A WITCH !!! BURN HER!!"-behaviour. It's not about the person that got offended (did that happen?),
it's about "I DECLARE WHAT'S RIGHT OR WRONG!" ... and that's rrreeeeaaaaaaallllyyyyyyyy ****** up.

And then the little kid feels the need to complain about the GM not doing what should be done.
In whose opinion, though ? And what did you expect ? A permaban ? For what ? Using a word ?
Are you in any position of power to demand punishment at a level that equals your sick issue ?

So, when you *really* feel offended, should we put the guy who offended you in prison,
even if it, just like in this case, had NOTHING to do with you in the first place ?

Or worse, take his life, because your under-developed right brain hemisphere got hurt ?

I don't know. If you were born black, jewish, arab, asian, or some other non-standard white Christian you would probaly feel different about the situation.

People don't realize how bad it is until you are on the receiving end of rascism. And if you happen to be white and tolerate that behavior then it means you are a rascist too. Sure you shouldn't get jail time, but the reast of society shouldn't have anything to do with you. That includes the right to play on privately owned games servers. CCP has said what the rules are and you'll have to deal with it. The OP was right to report it because its against the rules. I mean if you see botting you should report it. Same thing. Its unacceptable gameplay behavior.

If you don't like it then you should take a time machine back before the 1930's.

Besides the last thing CCP wants is the NAACP to show up at their door asking why the let people use their servers to throw racial insults around.

I'm not sure what country you're in currently, but in the wonderful United States of America we have a thing called freedom of speech. It's 2013. If you still get mad about the "n" word, you need to do a lot of growing up. No one has the right to say "This is our word." Also, like someone else said, stop trying to white knight on a game that is well known for it's ruthlessness. I for one believe it could actually add to the game. Someone drops the n bomb and people start trying to duke it out with internet spaceships. Boom, player made content.

I'm amazed at how many of you think dropping the N word in local is acceptable. Even more amazed that some of you are actually stupid enough to argue that it isn't racist.

It should take more than just words of text from a complete stranger to get one's panties in a bunch. That's my point.

Saying the n word is offensive. I too think that racism is rather crude and should not be used any any istance, defenitely not in a game, where the whole point is to have fun. Obviously as in anything there will be conflict, but racist coments are looked down upon in my opinion, I think if what he said was truly racist, he should recive a punishment such as chat banned for 24 hours or something. Then again, if you read the ccp conduct guidelines, saying the n word is not really a prosecutable offense, though I still think racism is a unsportsman like conduct, even in a game where its acronym is everyone vs everyone.

Freedom of speech doesn't apply to privately owned game servers. If CCP wants to ban you for anything you say, they have the right.

Go to Jita right now and spam the N word as many times as you can and see what happens.

Hell why not just post it in the forums using a method to bypass the profantity filter and see how far your freedom of speech gets you.

Also Al Sharpton would like to have a word with you and any of your current employers.
