A tech 2 mining crystal is expected to last an average of 200 cycles. It is random as to how many cycles it lasts, but 200 is the accepted average.

200 cycles * 3 minutes = 10 hours

a scordite mining crystal is approximately 500K ISK at Rens. Multiply that by 3 strip miners to cost 1.5 mil for 10 hours of cut time.

at the moment scordite can be sold at 100% refining rate for 225.33 ISK per cubic meter. (based on the price I found at the time of this post found here http://ore.cerlestes.de/index.html#site:ore )

Strip Miner 1
3 minutes = 1167.0 cubic meters
1167 * 200 cycles * 3 strip miners * 225.33 ISK = 157,776,066 ISK for 10 hours

Strip Miner 2
3 minutes = 777.8 cubic meters
777.8 * 200 cycles * 3 strip miners * 225.33 ISK = 105,157,004.4 ISK for 10 hours

Strip Miner 2 with tech 2 crystal
3 minutes = 1360.5 cubic meters
1360.5 * 200 cycles * 3 strip miners * 225.33 ISK - 1.5 mil for crystals = 182,436,879 ISK for 10 hours

Therefore if you mine for 10 hours with Strip Miner 2s with crystals you yield 24,660,813 greater than Strip Miner 1s which is 52,619,061.6 higher than Strip Miner 2's without crystals.

Keep in mind these prices are based on my own skill levels that are only level 3 exhumer and without the benefit of a fleet boost.

Without verifying, you math looks about right.

But keep in mind crystals are also the first mod that is added to the base yield, before skills or boosts are added. While this looks impressive with your low skills, it gets better as skills go up and boosts are added.

You stated with your skills you get 1360 per cycle. I assume this is using a HULK as other ships get a significant base yield per strip miner boost of 200% for Skiff and 50% for Mack to make them all basically equal to 3 strips.

I generally look at over all m3 per minute rather than yield per 3 mins per strip. So basically if you get 1360 m3 per cycle with 3 strips you would get 1360m3/minute for the ship. (1360/3 x 3 strips=1360 per minute) with 3 strips running 3 minute cycles the yield of 1 strip is equal to the yield per minute of all three.

With good skills, the right fit, and a basic 3% yield implant, every exhumer can easily do over 1,500m3/min. With max skills the HULK with its 3% per mining barge level plus 3% per exhumers level can hit 1700m3/minute with implants. Add in maxed fleet boost a HULK can pull in about 2700m3/min. Add T2 drones with max skill and drone rigs(about another 400m3/min), you can get well over 3000m3/min with a max yield fit.

Of course theoretical max yield on paper, and what you actually get out mining are not the same. But for an apples to apples comparison it is the best option, as you can not accurately quantify the lost effecency. i use as a rule of thumb, if in a fleet where you do not need to worry about hauling, you should get at least 90% of your max yield.

Basically the higher your skills the bigger difference between not only Strip miner I and Strip miner II with T2 crystals, but also between ships gets much bigger. At exhumers 1 the Skiff, Mack, and Hulk get very close to the same yield, but at exhumers 5 the difference is much bigger. the same is true of crystals, the higher your base yield from skills and implants, the bigger difference the crystals make.

to compare your math and skills;

1360.5 * 200 cycles * 3 strip miners * 225.33 ISK - 1.5 mil for crystals = 182,436,879 ISK for 10 hours
or my way
1360.5/min (basically the same thing)* 600 minutes = 816,300m3*225.33 isk - 1.5 mil for crystals =182,436,879 isk for 10 hours or about 18 mil per hour

or with max skills, max boosts, and drones, with drone rigs up to 3000m3/min

3000*600minutes*225.33-1.5 mil for crystals = 404,094,000 isk for 10 hours or about 40 mil per hour. As a theoretical max income for miners. two days or 20 hours of that and you have no only paid a PLEX, but made enough to replace your HULK once.

By finishing up your skills, and getting into a corp that offers full orca boosts you could more than double your current income. Just in case you felt that you had decent skills and were close to your max mining income.

Personally I have near max skills, and near max boost, what I would consider average for a dedicated miner, I make 25-30 mil an hour. that is with exhumers 4 and not using drones. 3% implant, max skilled booster without mining foreman mindlink, and T2 ganglinks in the ORCA.
