trading & hauler alt

so i've got an account who i'm using as hauler atm (jump freighter, covert hauler, ..), who also has nice refining and mining skills.

I decided i wanted to use it for market trading aswell so i started upping standings for caldari navy & caldari state.
untill now when i realized that when i do this, my hauling skills might become useless if i get -5 on a state faction.

are there people here who think it's still viable to have an alt who does hauling and trading?

kind regards
mt

To put it simple i currently am selling about 100B to 150 B worth of stuff in different spots on different chars.None of them have standing decent enough to affect the fees associated with setting up buy/sell orders.

First train trade skills THEN see if you feel like going for standings.I feel it is only worth it when you have reached the maximum trade potential on your accounts with different characters and you're bored enough to also grind the standings for that extra little profit.

Just move your ass out of jita and you don't need standings for decent profits.

..I agree with flakeys. For the most part the standings are just icing on the cake.

But to answer the question I think you are asking, no, don't use your own freighter or hauler to haul your trade goods between hubs.

I once had a freighter, and made about 5 hauls a day from a hub to my production system, and hub to hub hauls. I realized that if I were to be ganked, all my efforts and time piloting a slow ass freighter would be wasted.

So now I simply buy insurance for my loads. It costs about 400k ISK a jump. With an added bonus: if the hauler I contract to haul my goods does get blown up and I lose my 1b load, ill get a nice payout of 2b ISK, from the double sized collateral I always use for any load.

The necessity of standings depends on the type of trading a person is doing.
Flakeys does regional trading and getting standing for every state / corp won't worth the effort, especially trading in high volume low price item area.

Now when you're trading machariels in Jita, standing is more than worth it.
As for hauling, as it was said, it's better to use hauling services

There is a key point being missed here, that I am surprised noone has touched on;

Getting your faction standings up to 7 or so with the main trade hub station corps, (Boundless Creation, Brutor Tribe, Caldari Navy, I forget the Dodixie and Amarr ones) will not bring down your faction standings significantly with any one faction. In addition, by running your storyline missions, you will be able to help balance off any changes that happen. For trading out of the trade hubs, if you can stand to, just do each of the trade hub corps to between 5 and 7, if you want to mission to minimize trade loss, and you will still be able to fly everywhere.

ONLY if you try to raise your empire faction standings (Caldari State, Minmatar Republic, etc) will you get yourself to a point where you cannot enter a particular section of empire. However, you'd also have to choose between high Caldari/Amarr or high Gallente/Minmatar.

The savings will add up in the long term, but it will be a bunch of work. Long story short, no, you will not be denied from entering say, Minmatar space, if you raise up Caldari Navy to +7. Caldari STATE to +7, yes.

TL:DR, Raise Caldari Navy to +7, (or the corp of the trade hub you want to use), **** the rest, and you can still fly everywhere.

Personally I trained 2 charachters over 2 accounts like this:

1 with Gallante/Mini standing - Perfect trade skills.
1 with caldari Amarr standing - Perfrect trade skills.

the Caldari Amarr mission runner runs in the same fleet as the Jita char for standing and vice versa for Mini Gallante.

the Caldari and Amarr standing merchant does inter-regional trade, moving goods from one region to the other to maximize profits, BUT the chars I use are complety unseen, as in no contract/market history therefore not even remote targets of any sort, both covert ops hauler/Orca freighter chars.

Sure, mam. Big smile
There's a Sisters of Eve epic arc. You can google the guide to making it.
As a reward you can improve standings with any faction without losing standings to others. And I think it was repeatable.

Not at all true. Depending on how much you want to do, it is entirely possible to remain positive with all 4 factions.
