Hi-sec Mining profit?

Hello. Lately I haven't been able to play very often and as a result have been thinking of cancelling one of my accounts that was originally made to be a cyno alt. I was wondering how much money you can reasonably making mining in hi-sec, and would it be possible to reasonably pay for an account.

I'm thinking that while I am watching TV or whatever I could sorta be afk mining on my character/s to make some ISK while I'm not playing.

What does everyone think, how much can you make per hour mining (you can include manufacturing if it is something that wont take long to skill for, since right now my main can fly a retriever and my alt can fly a mammoth, no production skills).

Thanks everyone.

Mining blue ice in Gallente highsec is very lucrative right now.

So is manufacturing Mackinaws, strange... Lol. Silly goons.

OP:

Hauling will be your problem, single toon mining either means jetcanning or mining in an industrial with horrific yields.

Well I do have 2 characters, alternatively 2 hulks with cargo expanders and rigs hold about 17000 IIRC. Not great but I can always finish off training my gallente indy V to haul.

The question is how much isk would that average an hour.

I can't give you an exact calculation of isk per hour, but somewhere between 5m and 10m mining rocks in a retriever. It's been a long time since i mined in just a retriever. Closer to 5m than 10m i would imagine tho.

I do have a calculator to help you pick the best rocks in your region:
https://eve-industrialist.com/eve-industrialist/whattomine.eve

I would not recomend mining gallente ice while afk. If you're tanked in a hulk, and not afk, then maybe...

What rocks are the most isk per hour to mine? Which of your mission loot is worth more refined than sold? What blue prints make the most proffit? Answers: https://eve-industrialist.com/ Never sell an item for less than its mineral costs again!

I was joking about the ice, I know the goons are all over that.

To clarify, if mining in a hulk and hauling in an indy or mining in 2 hulks with big cargos and flying it back to station can make enough isk to reasonably buy a plex to pay for the account just while they train, that would be great.

For instance, if 15m would be reasonable to make then with about 30 hours I could reasonably make the 400m to cover a plex. 30 hours a month is 1 hour a day, not bad to do while watching TV (could probably pay for both accounts like that).

The training to a hulk for both accounts would be <30 days so this could be the last month I pay for the account/s and still get to keep them training.

EDIT: Excellent website though, thank you.

With Orca boost/haul I can make 18mil an hour, give or take.

I'm not sure about the whole mining for plex in high-sec. Seems like a lot of work just to keep your accounts running. I do a tenth of that with T2 production for 2 plex a month.

I happen to probe a large Jaspet site the other day in a 0.6 system. After anchoring a set of 6 GSCs I jumped in my T2 fit retriever with jaspet crystals and started ripping into the Pristine Jaspet. 6 hours later I had about 12M isk. Refined at a neutral NPC station with level 3 jaspet reproc skills. Selling ore is worth even less. 2M isk/hr.

To put it mildly, screw mining. I can make more hauling bat guano from Amarr to Guantanamo Bay. Or trading PLEX.

Protip: Don't jetcan mine in hisec. You will get can flippers. Having a GSC at warp distance takes less than 60 seconds to warp, drop a load, and then warp back. An Iteron Mk IV can haul 6 GSCs. 2 cycles of mining in a retty with T2 strips w/ crystals fills a GSC. You're better off using an Orca for hauling though.

If you are dead set on getting rid of the account, first contract me all your stuffz. :) Then put your toon on the Character Bazaar. Make a couple billion profit. Then unsub.

Yeah, like I said I could start doing production, but I was just looking for a cheap/easy way to keep the account live so I can continue training my cyno alt. My main will stay active regardless, but as I am now back in hi-sec I really don't need the cyno alt.

Yeah I figured it wouldnt be much worth it.

I'm not looking to cancel so much as I dont want to pay for my second account who is only a cyno alt. Now that I am not in null sec my carrier just sits in the station as does nothing. I'm not active enough to really deal with the 0.0 stuff.

I will probably just keep this account going and run a few missions here and there to make money while letting the cyno alt sub run out, then reactive if I need her again, was just thinking if I could mine to keep her active and training it would be a pretty nice trade off.

Thanks for all the help.

Put the alt in an Orca, use it as a big floating jetcan. If you skill up the alt, you can boost the output per hour from your hulk as much as 45-50%. Plus you won't have to jetcan.

Also consider using PI harvest planets to supplement your income. Not hard to make almost enough to cover a plex each month, and every 5 planets you run is 20-30 fewer minutes of mining that you'll have to do every day to make your PLEX.

Thanks !

I would say that plexing an account on high sec mining is not possible.... except.... there is a guy in my corp that plexes his account on veldspar. I'm not kidding. He doesn't even do it right -- he uses a single hulk and shuttle-mines when there is no Orca available with the corp.

I tried to get him to mine other things when prices when down, but he just kept at it.

No he's not what/who you are thinking. He's an american on disability.

Hmm, Gotta see how long an Orca would take to train for. Also need to look at PI, never bothered with any of that stuff but if it can make a decent amount of money I'm all about it.

Very nice, and an excellent quote from him. I wonder how many hours a month he spends mining... probably enough to make most people suicidal, but good for him feeding his eve addiction no matter what it takes Big smile

If you have a hulk, an Orca takes next to no time to skill up. Considering most of the requirements are 'get a hulk'

Fact of the matter is, Veld is generally the most ISK/m3 of all the hisec ores... wonder if he was a student of ChribbaBear.

Depends on the region - Pyroxeres is the new darling at 115-120 ISK/m3. Veld and Plagio are bouncing around 100 ISK/m3. Scordite lags a bit at 90-ish. Kernite bounces between 100-105 ISK/m3, and Omber is in the basement at 70 ISK/m3.

With an Orca/Hulk combination you can make 1 billion a month. Thats what I make with my combo at 4-5hours a day of mining six days a week.

Some days you're the bug, and some days your the windscreen.                   And some days, you're just a man with a gun.

I have to ask, how do you stomach it? are you partially afk during the entire process? I enjoy mining myself, which is why I have one in a hulk, one in an orca and another almost ready for a hulk, but I can barely withstand 2-3 hours every few days.

a maxed out, orca boosted highsec hulk (fitted for max yield) with t2 mining drones makes max 12-14mil/h. i dont know where other people get their numbers(18mil wtf?) but thats what i earn mining the most profitable ore at the moment. and i dont do afk mining, so if you're looking to finance 2 toons by mining you're gonna have to invest a lot of time and isk in skills and equipment.

ps whoever is mining using 1 hulk and 1 orca is a dumbass
