Loki exploration fit (high/lowsec) / WH?

Hi all,

I am looking for a "cheap" loki fit for running high and lowsec exploration combat sites, and possibly, if the ship allows it, low class WH's.

I'll mostly be running around with a scanning pilot to do the scanning for me, but going into WH's I'd probably like a probe laucnher myself!

No need for PvP, other than some ability to run trough gate-camps when needed.

I'm more focussed on gunnery than missiles, so I'm guessing 425II's.

1) Possible ship fits (I'm new to T3's)
2) What kind of combat sites would I be able to run in it?
3) C1's only, or C2's aswel? Or none of both?
4) Alternatives to the T3 that's also viable?

I said "cheap" loki fit, since I'll probably get it blown up rather sooner than later. It doesn't has to be the best, good enough will do.

This is the fit I use for DED/combat sites in highsec, it'll tank a 4/10 no sweat as long as you're orbiting something

The faction AB isn't completely necessary but its somewhat cheapish , the shield booster is only about 20mill so its worth using

If you wanna head to lowsec you could use the covops subsystem but your dps will suffer as a result

Any more insight on this?

I've been forum/google searching, but haven't really found many topics about this that are up-to-date..

I kept avoiding this thread hoping someone else would answer, but it looks like that's not happening. So here goes.

You're asking a whole lot out of that humble Loki. It may be a T3, but that doesn't mean that a single fit can magically take anything you want to throw at it, even if you restrict that "anything" to PvE content.

For a cheapish high sec fit, you could do worse than the one already posted. The key elements are all there: enough damage and tracking to quickly kill frigates, enough speed to get to the wreck, a bonused probe launcher on the combat fit, etc. The funny thing about high sec fits though: you can make them pretty expensive as you don't really expect to lose them. Certainly not to the sites, and probably not to other players (unless you've really mucked things up).

For low sec, the game changes a bit. Standard operating procedure involves two fits, one for travel and scanning and one to run sites. You generally want to take advantage of the covops cloak on the former fit (along with scanning bonuses) which locks in your offensive subsystem -- and locks your damage way low. So you carry a combat fit along for the ride and swap it out if you find a site you want to run. Personally I don't like the Loki for this, but you can take advantage of its native resists and have some success fighting Blood Raiders and Sansha (or probably change things around and be alright against Angels as well). You end up rather range limited and web towers -- which are rather common -- will ruin your day if you can't get to them to kill them.

Null is different again and probably outside of the scope of this discussion.

Wormholes in a Loki are a different story again. Ammo begins to become a problem unless you're only planning on short stays (or if you've moved in for the long haul). They can do nasty things to frigates if you take advantage of the webbing sub (with arties or ACs). The fits tend to run on the expensive side if you want to step up to C3s though, as they have to balance a good tank with solid cap stability while still being able to kill things. That's a significant demand on each module you fit, and as such you tend to want expensive modules to make it work for you. C1s and C2s are a bit easier though and are probably more amenable to day tripping in the first place.

As for alternatives, you can do much worse than a Sleipnir. You won't be able to warp cloaked, you won't fit in to 3/10s, and you won't get a bonus to scanning -- but you're looking at a formidable killing machine. Some people also seem to like to do low sec DEDs in Cynabals, but I can't exactly fathom why; it doesn't seem particularly effective to me.

Good advice.

You say no need for PvP. You realize WHs are 0.0 and lots of PvP right?

so ive recently spent several days building lokis. ive found for me, for hi/lo-sec roamin, and W space, there are 3 variants of the loki.

a covert scanning, interdition nullified, cloaky loki.
it really is what this T3 excells at. ive found this version so useful, i built one extra just so id have it.

the second and third lokis are similar, but trade back and forth between gank and tank.
there are 3 subsystems you will find essential.
adaptive shielding, chassis optimization, and projectile scoping array.

this initial setup will give you 6 turrets and a utility high.
a drone bay for 2 flights of drones
max shield resists (with proper skills)
max speed 300 m/s

the engineering subsystem you can pick for yourself, use the one that suits your style best.

for tank, and scan resolution bonus, tactical targeting array gives you 4 mids and 3 lows

for gank, and webber range bonus, immobility drivers flips low for mid, giving 4 low and 3 mid.

i wont tell you how to fit your ship, if you can fly a loki you should know that allready.

besides, im not sure i want you to know what im holdin' if i see you in W space Pirate

GL mate.

kill em all.

Thanks for the response!

Yes I realist that. What I meant was, I don't need to be able to point people in order to kill them. Surviving some sort of PvP (like a gate camp) would be a big plus though.

Any set-ups for low sec 5-6 ded's / unrated sites of "5-6"?

Assuming someone else is doing the probing.
