New toon... which skillpath?

Hey you people out there,

I am playing eve for almost 3 months now and since I am thinking longterm I am already planning to get me a second account.
The question i would like to throw at you at this point is which skill-path i should go on him!

I am currently PvE/PvP oriented, though the most important part in eve is PvP for me but this ofc involves a lot of cash that has to be obtained before. Thats why i am training for a lvl4 mission ship currently (Minmatar). This is also going to be the character i plan to do the PEW PEW later on.

So the plan is to create a second account which i will use as a little "income boost" to afford the PEW PEW and be able to buy all these shiny PvP ships and stuff.

So what will i do..?:

a) Make my second character Caldari since it's probably the best race to run missions with and end up having 1 char for PvP
and one for PvE. Or even dualbox lvl4s with both?
b) Go into either Trading or Industry on my second character for additional income while i run missions on my "main".
(the question here probably is, does it even make sense to go for Industry/Trading with only 2 Accounts while there is
only one of them primary skilled for either Trading or Industry?)
c) Go for Planetary Interaction on my second char for the extra cash?
d) Any other options?

And remember, my main goals are to get relatively wealthy at some point to burn all that cash away in PvP. I would love to be able to afford faction stuff and even Capital Ships later on.

Thanks already,

You don't need to be wealthy to PvP at all. If you are smart about ISK efficiency, there are plenty of t1 ships you can fit effectively with t1 modules and make nearly all of your ISK back in insurance on a loss.

I perfer Amarr or Minmatar for both PVP and PVE. Mini rock any class on PVP. Amarr are great fleet PVP ships. Amarr may be better at PVE in the smaller classes, the Mach and Vargur rock level 4's. Mach/Var are better in my opinion than Nightmare/Paladin. But the Mach rocks PVP solo small gang. Caladari and Gallente have there used but minie/amarr have more uses. I don't know anything about industry. If you skill for Amarr/Minnie PVE you can make boat loads of ISK mission running and seamlessly transfer to PVP down the road. Autocannons>Pulse> evreything else. This is my opinion I am not an evemon warrior.

If you can fit a rifter with some guns, a warp disruptor, stasis webifier, and an after burner. you are pvp ready.

Most of the great pvp'ers started out in the trusty ol rifter.

Though i started in an incursus.

Why Can't I have a picture signature.

Also please support graphical immersion, bring back the art that brought people to EvE online originaly.

*edit* If you're already training Minnie, maybe make the second charcater Amarr so you can have the best of both worlds. Tengu/Drake are awesome. Falcon is ghey! You just have more options with Amarr/Minnie.

you're going at it completely the wrong way. if you don't already know exactly what you'd do with another account, you'd probably just waste it at first anyway.

feel a need for a second pilot first, then fill it.

I always been told that Caldari kinda has the best ship to squeeze the max ISK/h out of lvl4 missions? The second account is only for the ISK purpose, i can crosstrain Amarr later anyways.

Well the thing is, it seems kinda impossible to pvp solo in a Rifter since you will usually only find targets around gates etc which are covered by sentry guns. Tbh these kill a Rifter in seconds and expearienced players will only be the agressor if they "know" they can take you out.

Tbh i have played a whole bunch of MMORPGs already and i always ended up having multiple accounts at the end.. and since skill points in eve are based on time i will rather start these accounts not too late.

I hear Ravan and it's variations onw at PVE, never flown one. Drake is good at PVP and good at PVE up to and including lvl 3's, 4's are dangerous in a Drake. Best I can tell Tengu is good at everything, a good BS well out ISK per hour it in lvl 4's though. I hear Tengu is the way to go in WH's. I have no experience in WH'S. Outside of PVE caldari doesn't really have anything bigger than a Drake worth flying.

a) Whatever the opinions, imo Caldari are the easiest way to do missions and complexes. Drake, Tengu, Nightkhawk, Raven class are all excellent and easy ships to generate cash. I've done missions in Amarr and Matar battleships but the Tengu ..well .. it's easymode, perhaps boring if you do it too often but no annoyances either: missiles always hit, no tracking issues, very nice range, quite fast so no tedious slowboating .. what else would you want? It's even possible to do almost all DED complexes. Wormholes. Incursions. Imo the Tengu is the ultimate versatile PvE ship (and even has some very good PvP setups).
If you're into trying L5s the passive tanked Nighthawk is a good option too, although lowsec missioning may be risky.

b) Trading and industry are totally different professions even though they can go together. It's the ultimate way to get rich - if you know what you're doing, especially now there's so many people doing it and people having perfected it. Prepare to become a thorough spreadsheet warrior ;)
Industry can be nice, it's a totally different part of the EVE world and yes, things from like selling ammo in mission hubs to bulk order nul/lowsec trading can be quite profitable. But again, you need some good math skills and get some connections with the right people. I've met a few trillionaires that make huge amounts of money by producing ships for trade and alliance orders. But to perfect your industrial skills and be very competitive price-wise and to be able to make huge amounts of ships when needed takes a very long time, usually including training a number of alts as well.

c) PI can be profitable but you're limited to so many planets and the best ones are already taken, of course (the best ones being in lowsec/nulsec). It can be quite time consuming (and risky at times) to daily update and adjust your colonies though. But if you're not a big spender and have some spare time it can (help to) finance your PvP hobby quite decently.

Train them to support each other. Caldari and mini work well together, this is what I do

PvE
Caldari character uses a tanky tengu, stil has 6 launchers and 3 navy BCS's
Mini character comes in a dps heavy ship, maelstrom, full gank

PvP
caldari - onyx or basilisk or drake or rook or falcon or buzzard for scouting
mini - cane, or whatever is needed.

Alright, thanks for all your help and time!

I've come to a decision.. i will go for a Caldari alt!

What would really help now is a standard Drake fitting i should aim for.
I checked battleclinic loadouts but don't know if they are any good since most of them got
loads of -1 ratings.

So would some1 please be so kind and post me a decent Drake fit (tank favored because i plan to use it to tank while
my Minmatar char has a gank setup)? Roll

This is the cookie cutter passive shield tank Drake setup for L3 (some L4) missions.

Options:
1. Use active hardeners. I use passive ones since I have good shield compensation skills (that only work on passive and deactivated modules). Of course you change hardeners according to the rats you fight.
2. You can change the AB for a shield recharger. Personally I like a bit of speed so you can get to the next jumpgate a little faster (and even helps liittle with tanking). For more tank you can replace a Ballistic Control System for another Shield Power Relay.
3. Change the missiles to the t1 version for everything below battlecruisers or use a target painter. Actually, better just use t1 missiles for L3 missions.
4. Don't mission in Amarr space as Drakes have a kinetic damage bonus, which is the 2nd weakest resistance for Angels and the 1st for Serpentis, Guristas. Your EM resists and damage output are weaker.
