I am officially announcing my candidacy for CSM. Below are some of the main points of my platform, as well as some information about me.

What have I done in EVE?
I began playing EVE in 2006, and moved to 0.0 shortly afterwards in search of pew and spaceloot. Rising quickly to leadership positions, I spent the majority of two years working with POSes, sov mechanics, logistics, and PVP for a few small alliances. After a short burnout in ’09, I returned to the game in 2011 and joined up with Hard Knocks [HK] in its infancy, and was soon put in charge of corporate operations, where I helped to build it into the organization it is today. During my time in EVE I have worn many hats and worked with many of the different systems in-game and out of game. I am well aware of their successes and failings. I’ve served in multiple management positions, from recruitment director, to POS manager, to acting CEO. I currently serve as the HK Executive Director/Diplomat.

Who I really am.
I will bring a useful technical and non-technical skillset to the CSM. As a Systems Integrator in real life, I work directly with software engineers and manage projects to completion. I understand the need for powerful design tools, such as the API, which allow independent developers to reach their goals and deliver stellar content. I also know that constant and concise communication and input from these developers is the key to building and maintaining these powerful tools, and I plan on bringing my real-life experience with me to the CSM in that regard.

What will you do for me?
As your elected representative, I will ensure that the opinions that I represent and communicate to CCP are in fact the views of my voting constituency, and not my own personal opinions. While it’s not always possible to represent everyone, I will ensure proposals which I bring before CCP are properly discussed by the members of the community beforehand, and that all voices and opinions will be heard, equally. I will also make all due effort to assist and guide CCP through the complex POS overhaul project, to ensure that the system that ends up on TQ is a system that is easy to administer for directors and managers, easy to manipulate for industry players, easy to access for regular users, and scalable for the future.

Additionally, we must ensure that the valuable intelligence-gathering tools and methods currently in use in wormhole space maintain their effectiveness during and after the POS overhaul. The ability to see piloted ships that are in a POS bubble, both visually and via directional scanner, is essential to WH scouting and PVP, even more so because we have no other means of gathering intelligence. If “moored” pilots are not visible, we run the risk of (player owned) station undock games in wormhole space.

Furthermore, the new POS system needs to have the capability to assemble tech 3 hulls, and by extension, switch subsystems. The addition of this feature into the current or replacement system would be of obvious benefit to current starbase residents, and may actually increase the population in wormhole and known space. Allowing pilots to modify subsystems on strategic cruiser hulls, to fill multiple roles in multiple engagements without purchasing entirely separate ships, will help reduce the cost barrier that many newer players experience when shipping up to these vessels, especially in regions where markets are scarce, or station fitting services are nonexistent.

Finally, the CSM needs to establish a dialogue with the third party developers that create our OOG applications, such as Eve-Kill and EveWho. It is vitally important that the CSM works with those developers to ensure that that the current API and soon-to-be CREST are developed and maintained in a way that allows our “enablers” to continue creating excellent content delivery systems that are used by players on a daily basis. If we’re going to have 10 more years of EVE Online, we need to be sure that we lay a framework that will not become compromised by caching restraints, or fails to deliver basic information on a standard API call. OOG tools are crucial to the EVE experience for all players, and it’s time we saw some focus and development in this area.

As a long-time user of Rengas-dar, I can state that Ayeson has done his best to take care of those wormholers who are victimized by the nasty falconii. As such, I can honestly say that I believe Ayeson would be a good representative of WH Space for CSM.

Just to be clear, you're another wormhole candidate?

Is someone keeping track of how many of you there are now because I foresee hilarity when you all dilute each others voter base and ensure none of you get in.

Well that's why Two Step is (supposedly) going to hold a wormhole primary.

The WH community is working to get a WH primary that will eventually get the WH dwellers votes, the time is simply not right for multiple WH candidates.

That said, while my support is with James Arget, at least so far you appear to be a good alternative. At least I couldn't see anything that would instantly scream out "hell no", unlike there's been with many others.

That would seem sensible, as long as you can maintain the appropriate level of goodwill and co-operation for the unsuccesful candidates and their supporters to abide by the result and to not just say 'screw you guys, I'm running anyway' - which can't really be taken for granted amongst Eve players.

If it works out, great. Might have been a good idea to do that before you all started posting your JPSC candidacy threads though!

Wh stabs are a terrible idea.

Now, for the Tl:Dr

CSM8 will provide a vital role in voicing the player’s opinion on features that need to be implemented in the POS overhaul, such as T3 assembly and subsystem swapping, and a new corporate role system, or features that need to be kept as they are, such as piloted ships in POSes appearing on directional scanners.

We also have CREST coming to fruition soon™ and we must ensure that it is given all the capabilities that it needs to create stellar applications, such as a proper caching structure as well as being maintained and documented in a way that doesn't discourage third party player development.

These are the issues I intend to focus on as a CSM, I do not believe Wormholes are broken, or that they need some sort of new dramatic effect to encourage PVP, Tiericide will handle the majority of that for us. As your representative I will focus on the laying the framework for the new POS and API systems that helped make the first 10 years great, and will make the next 10 years better than we all hoped.

A candidate who understands that the CSM position isn't just about going to CCP and demanding a feature you want.

Had a great little chat with Ayeson despite being a complete random stranger. The guy actually took the time to speak and listen.

The kind of person I would trust to approach the CSM position and bring the players wants and needs to the table.

You will get my vote. :)

Well, they started out in the wormhole subforum so we could argue internally about primaries, and then one of the mods started migrating them over here, and then we all got confused.

To be fair, that's pretty easy to do to us wormholers.

Nice interview, worth listening to it. I like Ayeson's ideas and believe he would represent our community pretty well, not just wormhole dwellers but also k-space peoples.

Ayeson has Wald's vote. All 2 of them.
