Question about the battlecruiser/destroyer changes

After reading the devblog I had a question I hope someone here can answer for me.

in the blog the following is stated:
Quote:
If, for some odd reason, you have Destroyers and/or Battlecruisers skills, but have no Racial Frigate/Cruiser 3 at all, then the skill points will be moved in the free allocation pool when the old skills are removed.

and

Quote:
If you have Destroyer and Battlecruiser 5 trained, you should account for approximately 6.2 additional million skill points

Does this mean if I only want to pilot say 2 racial bcs, and leave the other two frig/cruiser skills below 3 I will get about 3m sp to distribute?

Just want to make sure I understand the process correctly, Thanks in advance:)

No, it means that if you trained BCs without having any cruiser skills to III you will get reimbursed for the BC skill points.

A professional astro-bastard was not available so they sent me.

If you have BC V and one racial Cruiser to 3+, you will get one racial BC to V. This represents no SP gain on your character sheet.
If you have BC V and two racial Cruiser to 3+, you will get two racial BC to V. This represents a ~2m* SP gain on your character sheet.
If you have BC V and three racial Cruiser to 3+, you will get three racial BC to V. This represents a ~4m* SP gain on your character sheet.
If you have BC V and four racial Cruiser to 3+, you will get four racial BC to V. This represents a ~6m* SP gain on your character sheet.

If you have BC V and no racial Cruiser to 3+, you will get the SP from BC V back.

They're warning you about the extra SP so that you can upgrade your clone appropriately.

*Or whatever. I'm not going to do math for this.

Train all race frigates to IV
Train all race cruisers to III
Train Destroyers to V
Train Battlecruisers to V

You will get Destroyers to V x4 Races
You will get Battlecruisers to V x4 Races

Overnight SP gain for you will be in the ballpark of 24 million.

That's it. You have plenty of time to do this.

Night before patch, the forums will crash due to overwhelming whining about not being given enough time. Also they will be demanding free remaps to compensate for the fact that they havent been told about this eventuality for almost a year.

Since the cessation of their usefulness is imminent, may I appropriate your belongings?

8 months is nowhere near long enough to train 4 weeks worth of skills.

Just as 6 weeks is nowhere near long enough to buy Fanfest tickets.

EDIT: Nevermind sounds like summer so I will assume more than 45 days :)

Did they say roughly when this change goes live?

If starting from today it would take ~45 days for me, but I will in a heartbeat if there is a good chance they will be delaying the release that long.

It sounds more like it's coming within the next 30 days though?

if you consider the summer expansion (may?ish) to be in the next 30 days, sure.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

Thanks just looked it up in the detailed dev blogs. Doesn't it seem like every person in EVE should be doing this if they haven't already lol?

No. Retribution 1.1 is coming on the 19th. Retribution 1.1 is not the skill changes. The Skill changes are coming in the Summer expansion, which is usually late April-Early June.

You have time. Even if you don't complete it, because you're getting credit for partial training (BC4.5 will result in 4x RBC4.5 if you have cruisers 3), you're better off for trying.

Yeah, but some people only go by what they hear and they have heard there is a release coming out in a few days... so they jump to the conclusion that these changes are coming out then.

If only all EvE players had the dedication to research that we proud few forum warriors have. SmileSmile

On a related note, some people won't train to maximize their gain. Some people want a particular character to specialize in a particular race of ships or for a particular role and the extra skill points will only serve to inflate the price they pay for their clones.

... we wouldn't have had the whines about booking hotels and flights before buying Fanfest tickets?

But, if they did all that, there would be almost no drama on the forums.

How am I suppose to spit hot coffee all over my monitor from laughing after reading someone's witting reply to a whine post? Coffee just doesn't spit itself all over my monitors you know. P

Indeed. I tend to think globally when it comes to people, but locally when it comes to seasons for some reason. I only just started playing again before Christmas and haven't really been to these forums much and I'll admit, I panicked a bit when I saw the changes before the timeframe sunk in.

Oh hey, my first post (on these forums). Yay Smile
