wow is a cooperative game. eve is a competitive game. wanking over who completed the cooperative mode first is dumb and pointless. everyone can do it if they want, but only the strong few with the will to power in eve will have the mightiest space empire

His response was more to the idea that end game content could be achieved without cooperation in WoW, which isn't true. Unlike eve there are more or less specified endgame activities which require cooperation.

wrong.

a friend wouldn't shut up about wow to me so i put a month's gametime on it.
i clicked "join lfr" then went afk, and let 24 other people kill every raid boss for me.

you don't even have to cooperate, know, or talk to the people in wow to experience the endgame content.

i clicked "join fleet" then went afk, and let 400 other people kill everything for me. Shocking how this can happen in Eve as well.

Even still this whole thread is dumb.

There's all kinds of relevant ones there out of the 242 returns. I was even giving you a break by limiting it to the last month. Try searching 'any time' if you need to, but i'm sure you don't want to do that.

Actually, "world of warcraft greifing" has even more results for 'any time'.

removing "of" removes just over 10k of those.

edit: removing "of" also puts one wow video up on featured: from 5 years ago and the next one at the bottom of the page.

Isn't so.

Something very evaluable in EVE is just the fact that do not offer a vertical gameplay progression, and consequently no unique endgame. Also EVE is not based on "content" in the tradional sense, contents are generated by player interactions.

All this in contrast to other games where, is only a matter of time, everyone have to progress toward the same endgame.

EVE system let you free to pickup your gameplay, set your goald and in case also change them dinamically, or set no goal at all. Only a fraction of EVE players is involved in large numbers organization, it's a matter of preferences; but the game It's always enjoyable in the same way and you can have the same stuff: I think some of the richest player in EVE are industrialist playing mostly in solo or not intersted in being part of large groups

Then, of course, if you're interested in game scenarios based on number of players then "having more friends" (as yous ay) become relevant of course.

Pick one:
1. English isn't my first language.
2. I'm typing on a cellphone.
3. I'm typing too fast.
4. I didn't bother to use a spellchecker.

Any combination of two (or more) of those four options results in a post that is indecipherable by the native English speaker.

E: I say this because I am actually interested in what you have to say. You seem to have a head on your shoulders, even though I don't (think I) agree with you.

I had no problem reading what he posted. Also, I believe he is correct.

Yeah they had that in wow early on as well. Use to need 40 people to raid, and they couldn't all be drakes, oops I mean rogues. Sometimes you would compete against the the faction as well, with them bringing only canes wait, a good mix of roles.

But lately they reduce raiding to like 10-20 people needed or so, as well as a normal then heroic version. As well as a looking for raid finder that way more players have access to content.

Yes, but doesn't matter. What make the difference is the fact in EvE your character progression is not tied up to what you do in game: whatever you spend your time in game your character grows anyway.
And there's no "content" to access, true contents are generated dinamically by the players and their interactions.

In games like WOW you're FORCED to do something specific (in 40, in 20 or in solo, is the same) for your character progression, and doing anything else is a waste of time.

Yeah, that's LFR. The WoW interactive video mode. Bullshit at its best. That's not the endgame.

You do have competition in WoW PvE and actually it can be quite fun. Even without having to compete at the level of the world's top ten guilds. You can very well compete and have fun on server level.

The problem is, that only people socializing will eventually get there. Because if you do, you come to know and respect those 5% of the server population, who are willing to put in the effort and have fun competing with each other in raids. But it will take time and doesn't happen in just a few months. Some patience is required here.

For the majority in WoW though, that's way too much dedication, effort or whatever you want to call it. Because of that, Blizzard started to make it "easier" to level for all those who were not able to make some friends after the first 20 level in the game. That was back in late 2007 with Patch 2.3. They've introduced feature after feature, nerf after nerf over the following years for players that were not able to get into groups or raids, simply because they could not be bothered to make friends in the game.

None of that works, because a lot of those players are just doing their ego thing in those artificially built groups and the result are endless complaints on the forums by other players concerning player conduct in groups.

Eventually Blizzard made the whole game a solo thing outside of instanced gameplay.

So what happens in the end is, that those players playing the endgame on a server still mostly form a homogenous group. They know each other. And they do not need Blizzards tools to build raids or groups, because they have enough ingame social connections. Still some of them use these tools occasionally. Maybe they have a friend outside of those 5% or they just want to go out and meet new people in the game. It's also a good way to get in touch with potential new raid members.

Over time, some of these people may change server for whatever reason. They get into a competitive raid on another server and are now a potential contact for anyone else following. This way there is even a bridge across servers.

None of Blizzards efforts has really changed a single thing. None of the whiners was able to change anything at the situation by crying. All they achieved, was making Blizzard trash gameplay in most aspects.

I sincerely hope, that CCP doesn't cater to crying.

mostly because they're too inept to do it. at least here there's a case that there is a tech moon issue unlike in WoW where "don't stand in the fire" is a bit more than people can manage.

Human Nature.

I've known many people in games and all aspects of real life that want "short cuts" to "stuff" regardless of any ideas of fairness, balance or personal responsibility for their choices. Hell, there are whole real life poticial ideologies based on the idea of taking stuff from people who earn/make it and just giving it to everyone regardless of merit.

So no, it's not just EVE lol.
