Making the NeX store a success

No one could say it better than Hellmar: "we arrive at our rather underwhelming virtual goods rollout"

Clothing. Ha. Why would anyone buy virtual boots when you're the only one that can see them. A monocle for the equivalent of $70 of in game currency? That hardly fits the definition of microtransaction.

Think small. Think quantity. Take the "why would I want to buy this approach" before just throwing crap against the wall.

I think the NeX store could be a huge success offering ship skins and lighting packages. They would allow a superficial alteration of the way ships appear in space. The complexity of the design could be scaled up toward the most-expensive customize-it-yourself option. Nothing would be cooler than seeing a tiger stripe Rifter flying through with red, flashy lights on it.

And think small. Like $1 - $5 equivalents per transaction. Or less. People will be losing the ships, so make it easy to replace. Make unique customizations for corporations... like being able to plaster your corp logo on a station's shield.

Deployable advertising boards. So corps won't leave "recruiting containers" near gates anymore.

"Fun" implants with no bonuses, maybe different rendering effects (Bad trip implant... causes nyan like rainbows behind each ship, only visible to those with implant installed).

I could go on, but things like this are simple. The NeX store can be successful if you stop treating it like a cash cow and start giving people things they want.

I firmly agree that the best means of making the NeX store a success is to take into account things that people want (as long as they are not pay-to-win items).

A few suggestions I have come up with:
- Uniforms specific to characters with military background
- Dogtags specific to characters with military background
- Corporate billboards (or commercials on the display in CQ)
- Custom Paint Schemes for Ships
- Decorum items for CQ
- More reasonably priced items (that is the huge thing right there, as most people aren't going to melt several PLEXes to get a ****ing monocle)
- Allowing characters of one race to buy the clothing of the other races to wear

Great idea with the uniforms tying in to standings, and it would also be cool if you could lose the dog tags if you get podded (which would then be turned in for rep/resold and reprinted).

I thought about the decorum items and decided this isn't the Sims, until other people can see it it's not a priority.

Good ideas, keep em coming
