Why do you need Astrogeology Lvl5 for a Covetor it is only a few hours extra for an Exhumer! Surely Lvl 4 would suit better therefore you would need at least 12 more days for an Exhumer

Yeah that would make sense. I skipped Covetor and I'm sure many other people did as well.

Yeah, it probably would make more sense. But that doesn't mean the Covetor isn't a useful ship in the right context. Especially if said context is mining in low sec or unsecured null and expecting to lose a ship now and then. Yes, these activities are somewhat dumb and explicitly suicidal, but if that's what gets your rocks off, there's no better ship for it.

(Covetors also made perfect sense back when Hulks ran ~350mil before invention. Now, yeah, not so much.)

Back in the day, Hulks used to be 400-500m each, so back then, it wasn't a huge deal, but now days where isk shouldn't really be the problem it definitely does not make sense that you have to spend 30ish days to go from a Retriever to a Covetor and then only 2ish days more to a Hulk.

I agree that dropping atleast one of the two skills that are needed to 5 for the Covie down to 4 would be a welcome change.

That said, I disagree with people who said Covies are useless. I actually use one a lot, partially since I don't mine enough for 200M+ for a Hulk to be worth it and also for any WH mining (I'd much rather take a 10-20M Covie into a WH than a 200M Hulk).

Risk is definitely the biggest reason. Covetor is a great WH miner and not a big loss on your plate. Also, producing a bunch of them from your WH station for your pilots is attractive.

I think the hulk is too overpowered with resists, and needs a nerf.

That much tank on a industrial ship is silly and spoils the game for many people.

Same with the other mining vessels, It can be remote reped if needed and has no combat role, ergo no drones and no resists.

CCP needs to balance indy ships asap.

Getting you on your feet.

So you've further to fall.

The covetor was a good stop gap ship when hulks were 500+ million, but now they're cheaper so it's not as relevant.

Fixed it for you. No need to thank me, all in a day's work. Twisted

Try 700-800 million ISK for a Hulk?

But yes, Covetors probably should have their prerequisites lightened slightly.
