One account (this) for all sub-BS ships and weapon systems in the game. (a.k.a. the fun account)
One account for all capitals in the game (a.k.a. the alliance workhorse account) (not there yet).
One to make money for the above two (a.k.a. the carebear).

Training in parallel.

1 account, and i get by just fine. I had a second account but after some time figured out that it was uneccessary, or at least a waste of resources. I do fw/lowsec piracy almost exclusively without hardly any intel, no checking for gate camps, no fleet boosters. All of those things require a different way to play, and I find that way boring as hell. My sec is just about -10 and I have no need for a highsec alt for isk or any of that crap.

There are lots of reasons why a second account is helpful, and you ARE paying for it, so thats fine by me. I mean, hell, the game is supposed to be entertainment. If you can't get that with one account and you can afford (time, money, w/e) then by all means. Its simply a different way to play with one account, one that many enjoy.

However, keep in mind that most ppl on the forums have more that one account. Ppl with only 1 account also seem to be busier in game.

I has all the eve inactivity

I'm a strict one account guy. I refuse to pay for (in any manner including PLEX) for another account. As far as I'm concerned, if you can't play a game to its fullest with one account, something's broken...

You could use the 1 and just pay for 6 GTCs instead, have 100 billions in no time.

I've got only one account up to now. With two characters. For my current activities this is enough.

Sometimes i wish i could train some minor skills on my second character, but for this i'm forced to stop skill training on my first character. Anyway ... there's no important win for me having a second account.

Having only one or two characters makes it easy to indentify myself with my character(s). If i had too much characters, they would have been only some kind of "puppets of no meaning"/"tool" for me.

Of course with one character it is hard up to impossible to specialize in many directions, but on the other hand you hopefully are part of a corporation with nice people, who could always help you with certain tasks, and you can help them at those things, *you* are specialist for.

I used to run more than 1 account. Now I just use my main. I've got the second slot of the account with very minor training (less than a mil SP) for trading and hauling ships for me to lowsec. I've got the third slot filled with a account I use to price check in the trade hub.

All 1 account though.

Personally speaking:

Account 1:
1x Main Combat Pilot
1x PI dude.
1x idle character.

Account 2:

I think I have 6 or 7(most unsubbed) but I can't remember the password to half of them. Or if I think I remember the PW, I can't remember what characters are on the account so I can login to the account management page anyways. Hate that feature! Used to be heavy into character sales and resales. If you bought a character I probably created it or owned it at some point.

Created a new account acouple weeks ago, don't care for the new PW rules I have enough trouble remembering 400 PW's without

Must have one capital letter
Must have one lower case letter
Must have one nuber
Must have sixteen chracters
Must contain mother's maiden name
Must contain social security number
Must be notarized

I was creating another yesterday for an upcomming project, when I got to the create PW part I started thinking about some of my unsubbed accounts. I went ahead and reactivated one after several attemps and skipped the new one. The account I resubed had a 4.7mil SP core skill character on it. That was a surprise and will save me a little time. I'm going to let the account I opened a couple weeks run out, and maybe resub one of the old accounts. So much to do in Eve when I'm not pissed at CCP!

Do not assume anything above this line was typed by me. Nerf the Truth, it's inconvenient.

4 PI toons
1 indy toon
1 Gallante combat toon
1 minmatar combat toon (me)
2 jita alts (in case one gets compromised).

use the indy and 2 other "mains" to accept missions. Run them on cipher or if AFK the gallante. Use the indy to make stuff out of the reprocessed loot.

Have a WH. Run a DPS and DPS/nurse. Have a cloak and expanded probe launcher on the noctis so I don't get jumped.

Run Orca/hulk/hyperion mining ops.

Run mackinaw/mackinaw/iteronv for ice mining.

Run pseudo blockade runner on all 3 "mains", also a prowler on the indy.

You're playing the wrong game then, because no toon in Eve can do it all.

I pay for them with ISK and what do I need 100 billions for? I have enough to pew when I want, just not in stupid crazy pimp ships, which is fine since I solo and everything explodes frequently enough that its a bad idea.

Its just handy to have characters in different regions with varied implants etc to keep my options open.

I have only one account.

And so does my alt.

I started creating multiple accounts because the corp I was originally in didn't always have people online when I was.
So it was a simple matter of creating another account to perform those few items that I would be hard pressed to get someone else to do.

And once you start done the alt path, well there really is no going back.

The fact is my alts have allowed me to explore a lot more of EVE then I would have if I stayed with one character.
I am not sure if I still be in the game if I would be limited to one account.
The extra complexity of running and managing multiple accounts can be , well interesting at times, even with some of the most mundane jobs in EVE.

Multiple accounts - the secondary accounts are used to skill up market trader, industrial, research, hauling alts and to get things done during hi-sec wardecs. I'll often skill up an alt for a few months on a separate account, then merge it into one of the existing accounts.

Multiple accounts seem to be very common among the industrialist folks as it gives them more copy / invent / research / production / market slots.

(I make use of the annual subscription, which is about $11/mo for most of the accounts. A significant savings over paying monthly. Eventually, I plan on PLEX'ing at least one or two of the accounts each month.)

My goal in this game is to get as rich as possible by being a rational economist. I can play about 5 to 10 hours per week. I have more money than I need for my main ventures. To protect me from inflation I’m using the larger part of the surplus money to invest in various resources and PLEX. However, I'm also using some money to invest in characters and training time. Having a lot of accounts and characters doesn't really cost ISK. It just binds ISK. The only cost of having characters is the value of the time needed to log in to the game to update the skillqueue. By now I have characters with more than 1billion skillpoints in total. Additionally my multiple characters allow me to be prepared and to do whatever I want to do skill wise.

Two accounts, Two characters so far. I did it becuase I need a hauler alt. For more PI and stuffs related to my WH life. Since my main rarely leaves W-Space I gotta have a K-space alt to get other things done and hang out at the trade hubs buy stuff and drag it in.

opened 2nd account as i wanted a scout and cyno
and honestly, having your own char as scout is way easier that relaying on someone else.
you don't need to wait for a corpie to be available
you don't need to force someone to stay immobile for hours
you don't need to be sure he know what he does

sure you can do without, but it's so useful...
when you have tried, you feel the difference when you can't use them.

Hello Friends,

I was curious how many out there are like me? Or maybe I am the only one.

I choose not to use multiple accounts. I like having the one character that is "me." The choices I make with my one character are important because I do not have another account to run too if I mess things up. I have been in corps where if we are wardecced, the other players just doesn't log in for a week and instead plays a different account not in war.

I have a personal friend with no less then 6 accounts! To me this is madness, that is a lot of money on subs a month! He doesn't even play one of them. It is in a safe station on training mode with high level implants. Evemon tells my friend he will be ready to come out sometime in July.

The question is:
If you use multiple accounts, how do you use them? Why do you use them?

-Mal Mandrake

I used them mostly for making more isk, and logistic ease related to supply chains, procument officers (hub station traders) and retail arms (mini hubs I set up)

I keep 5 accounts active and training despite not really "playing" beyond those log ins and enjoying the forums for their debate about things away from rl politics and economics.. I like debate and discussion for its own sake.. tire over rl issues).

I pay for those accounts with isk I make. I also have a pvp characer and used some of my trading procedes to purchase a highly trained cap character to help my pvp corp at the time.

Basically, I enjoyed playing the game as if I were the head of a large trading corporation with the many characters spread across the accounts being my "employees".

Like a railroad barron type game, or other strategy game where you amass increasing numbers of troops in your army as well as being able to employ higher technologies (or higher amounts of capita in eve) in each of them, my forces grew over time using IN GAME resources to expand My in game Reach.

I do not regard plex as $ but as the game abilty to command a larger army based upon my game sucess (as I defined it by setting and achieving personal goals).

As my goal was to EARN the abilty to command greater forces and score more points defining ISK as points to a degree, I wouldn't pay real money to achieve my game goals.

I'm certain that I would not have ever sustained more that 1 paid with $ account for a longer period.. I did pay $ for a power of 2 account 4 or 5 months into play as I wanted to move my pvp character to 0.0 and didn't want to stop training him to build the basic trade an piloting and science skills to do things I wanted in the economic part of the game I enjoyed.

A strange side product of the plex for game time was eventually, after amassing a lot of capital and having discovered (and a lot of the FUN comes from the Discovery) ways to make isk with less time... I no longer even had to pay $ for the one account I would have paid $ for. I know many people argue the fungibilty of $ to plex meaning that by using up plex I am doing the same as paying money to CCP

Thats a large and complicated debate hingeing on whether CCP could have simply sold the isk directly but figured giving people like me additional characters to control for transfering my isk to people who wanted to pay $ to them allowed them to both sell ISK and harvest it from me at the same time while costing them next to nothing (well they did fogo income on one account I would have kept active.. so lets say it's been costing them 1/5th of a monthly subsciption per plex sold in reltion to me as a person).

At some point, like in almost any game we play... I reached a level where.. I'd enjoyed that part of the game as much as I felt like.. I "won" the campaign I wanted... lost interest in setting higher goals in the same general area. (people who love playing Civization take a break at some point etc... )

Anyway.. tldr I have mutiple accounts I've earned through trading....they pay for themselves... I enjoy the process of using the characters in the larger organization the mutiple accounts allow... while paying fore themselves.

operating a wormhole on 1 account would be tricky, you need to keep a prober handy 'just in case'
