EVE New Citizens Q&A

I played Eve for a couple of months a while back, and I am thinking about re-activating my account.

I would like to get some good tips on how to have more fun in the game. I would like to try different aspects of the game, I would like to earn a decent amount of credits and do PVP too.

Last I played, I got myself a Drake and then a Raven - I had the bare minimum skill requirements, but I was grinding lvl. 4 missions with a decent income. It got really boring after a while, and I gave up the game. Before that my goal was to get the skills for a Tengu(?) or that cloaking Caldari scorpion-looking BS that can tunnel other ships through a wormhole and whatnot.

So any suggestions on what to do to have more fun as a low level player with few credits? Is there a way to PVP a lot and generate an income from it for a poor noob like me? If so, what ships/skills should I aim at as a Caldari character?
