Hi all,

Recently i found out that corp shares do exist in Eve online. As far as i know you can't buy them off the market. is there a central place where you can buy / sell shares?

No, not exactly.

Shares are only given value when the CEO decides to pay out dividends. Simply having shares doesn't mean you will turn a profit. There are however a very select few corps that sell shares, and are mostly sold via IPOs in this section of the forums. NETCI for instance, which is ran by Chorus, sells shares via the forums and pays out fair dividends each week. With these shares you can transfer them for profit, and whoever has them with receive the dividends.

Stay away from them. They hold no value. Even if you bought shares from a corporation that was issuing dividends on a regular basis. You would have a hard time selling the share back to anyone but the corp you bought it from. If they were willing to buy it back.

If you said to another player "I have shares for sale. They are from a reputable corporation that issues dividends on a regular basis" 9/10 times you would be immediately be called out as a scammer. And the 1/10 chance you weren't would be if you tried selling them to a noob who believed that it holds value just because it is a "share"

Unless you use a third party for every share transaction, The share transactions are completely unsecured for both parties.

Either they trust you to give them the money after then give you the share(s)

Or you trust them to give you the shares after you give them the Money(s)

And even if you use a third party, the share still holds no value.
