If you could change the nature of one ship, what would it be?

We all love the hulls in EVE -- I daresay it's a large part of why we play. Now, granted, everyone has personal preferences... something I like might not be something you like, etc. However, I think we've all got some ships we'd just love to sail forever.

Problem is, sometimes those ships aren't doing what we do. And so we sit back from afar, wondering 'what if?' 'What if I could mount guns on that badboy?' 'What if that was the greatest jump freighter of all time?' And so on and so forth.

So, I ask a simple question: if you could take one ship from the game and change what it was -- turn it from whatever it currently is into whatever you wanted it to be -- what is that ship?

For me, it's the Providence. I typically don't love Amarr designs, but for whatever reason, that giant transport just screams battleship (or perhaps even dreadnought) to me. I love the huge, ultra-bright engine exhaust and how the thing looks like it could take multiple comet impacts and just shrug them off. I can only imagine how it would look mounting 6-7 megapulses and spearheading a force into combat. If we could strip the internals out of any ship and rig another how we wanted, that badboy is my ride until the end of days.

So what changes would you make?

I've always thought the Providence would have made a great carrier hull, myself.

I got to agree .. The providence is by far the best looking hull in the game (in my opinion at least)

I'd make it into a Carrier as well, just as Liang suggested

This is funny. While I think that the Armageddon is the best looking battleship hull and I generally like Amarr hulls, I find the Providence less attractive Blink.

For me it would rather be the Fenrir in its place.

Would be all carrier hulls in general.

Jump bridges are nice and all, but i think they are broken in a universe of patience and spreadsheets... instead i'd prefer carriers to be what i imagined them to be when i first heard of them in game:

Carriers can carry actual pilots, docked up, but only in frigates or such. When they carrier jump, all those players go with them and can 'launch' or be 'ejected' by the carrier and receive bonuses from the carrier.

The bonuses i suppose would just be remote rep in the REAL eve universe, but it's an idea i'd still like to see in the game to this day :)

Oh, and mother ships would of-course be able to carry larger ships Bear

It's funny, because that's what I originally imagined carriers were too. What?

Start with an Adrestia. Paint it like the old all-black Vigilant. Give me a BPO.

Alternatively, just paint the Phobos bright pink.

A pod. I would have it with AOE doomsday device...

Seriously though, while I'm cool with existing hulls and their roles I'd realy love to be able to fly some currently-non-flyable ones, like fighters, fighter bombers or infested Dominixes.

The Anathema looks awesome. I'd love it even more if it had a decent combat role.

Id like to see the mini whale Prorator made into a suicide bomber hull. Give it different high slot mods that either replicate the old AE dooms or that can crash a pos or station making it unable to let anyone in or out for several min. Time/damage dependant on how much fuel is in the transports hold.

To avoid abuse the toon who does so is instantly pod killed for a significant skill loss in what ever the skill used for the high slot or maybe their transports skill.

Get the Abaddon, paint it black. That is all

Model changes? Plenty, just not with existing models.

Ships I think need a major graphic update are:

- Rupture
- Blackbird
- Moa
- Typhoon
- all Minmatar transports (including Fenrir)
- Apocalypse
- Dominix

I'm a great fan of new Stabber and Tempest/Vargur models, so I'd be appreciative if at least the most extreme Minmatar models were updated to fit them - note: that doesn't mean the general shape should change, just that the ships should be updated to fit the new construction characteristics.

Apart from that, I'm also a great fan of T2 being treated similarly to stealth bombers/Vargur/vaga, i.e. getting a different model that builds on the original. I think it gives those ships that certain spirit.

Well, that plus Khanid Abaddon, of course ;)

I would change the Eos from being a useless waste of ISK and SP in a Brutix hull in an actually usable spaceship in a Myrmidon hull.

I agree with all of these, particularly the Typhoon. I understand that the ugliness is appealing for a lot of people, but, for me, there is such a thing as 'too ugly to fly.'
