The not-very-new patches are problematic on my system. I would like to hear if anyone has experienced the same problem and have found a solution. Or any helpful tips for that matter.

System: Fedora 17 x64_86
wine version: wine-1.5.18

Running Launcher with the following settings:
Libraries:
*comctl32 (native, builtin)
*d3dx9_36 (native)
*mscoree (native)
*msvcr100 (builtin, native)
*msvcr80 (builtin, native)
*msvcr90 (builtin, native)
d3d11 (disabled)
urlmon (native, builtin)

wine standard output:

After that is a long and boring stack trace. A more detailed wine output would produce several miles of output so I won't post it here.

Crash accurs during stage:
(2/4): Creating EVE_Online_469969-476047_win.patch 3X.X% (Usually around 30%)

Game worked well before this patch.

Using wine-1.5.21 here. Some of the issues with the launcher and the need to switch libraries have changed recently. I suggest you update your wine. It seams like with the most recent wine even https in the ingame Browser works now.

Also make sure you have "d3d11" native only with recent versions of wine:
https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=185663&find=unread

I then start my EVE client with this command:
Quote:
WINEDLLOVERRIDES="*msvcr100,*msvcr90,*msvcr80=n,b" wine "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"

Thank you for your reply!

I have tried to update wine-1.5.22, however it didn't solve the problem.

I have tried to jungle around MSVC libraries as well (between native and built-in). I have to do it anyway to make Launcher start at all.. Unfortunately it did not help either. I do not think the libraries are the problem here.

I have ensured that SELinux was disabled and nothing could interfere with the patching process, but it stilled crashed. The patch file was created with zero length, so my guess is the problem somewhere in the writing file procedure.

But in the end I gave up. I just reinstalled the whole EVE Online, since in that way I can bypass Launcher's patching procedure. This works, however it might be annoying to do it on every patch.

I have a backtrace from April 2012 that is similar to yours, but tbh I don't recall much about it aside it was almost a year ago and that it's been resolved on my system.

I have a fruit cup and I'm not afraid to use it.

Have you tried just removing the msvcr* overrides (and maybe that coree one since it's mentioned in the trace? Never seen that one.) altogether from the list? Since about 1.5.10 I haven't needed them, and in fact kept crashing on either playing or patching until I actually removed the overrides.
