New autopilot feature. Select next waypoint.

Put a check-box somewhere in AP settings that says "Select next waypoint" Probably could word that better.

Anyway when it is turned on each time AP preforms an action it also selects the target of that action.

To be clear what I'm saying is when the AP says "Approaching XYZ gate" it would select that gate as your target also. Same for warping or approaching a station. Doesn't seem like it would be all that hard to code. Add a few lines if X variable is yes then select the target and continue into your approach/warp commands.

Why? Well now that you have the nifty "track selected" feature it would mean while you AP your ship would automatically view each gate/station as you were traveling. That way when you sit back down after grabbing a soda or look back at the computer from the TV you see a fairly predictable view of what is happening. This would allow you know much faster what is going on while you were AFK.

Just an idea. Flame away.

This is a reasonable goal.

Any implementation would need to be careful not to enable fast-autopilot botting. For example, if implemented literally as suggested, hooking up a keyboard bot spamming "D" just might produce fast warp-to-zero autopilot. I think this could be avoided by assuring the target-gate is selected after the autopilot warp is already selected.

Protip: 100M ISK per hour is about $3US an hour.

Hmmm.... True but to setup an AP bot you would have to make it turn off AP at each gate. Hmmmm... Your right though having it select the target last in the sequence of commands would minimize any chance someone could try that.

If you really want to get rid of that possibility simply have it focus the camera on the target without actually selecting it. More code but doesn't seem impossible. As long as there is a check box to turn it off then no one can complain. They already have code built into the new tracking function that stops tracking if you manually move the camera. So if you panned around it would break the track on your destination but then when you jumped it would track the next target etc.

Seems pointless but for people who AP around allot it makes it allot easier to glance back at the computer to get a status of your flight.
