I really like those threads with all this "experts" on null sec corps recruitment standards, allways gives me a good laugh Lol

@OP
If you want to find a nice Corp for you in a null sec alliance, open the alliance information ingame go to the member corps and read their individual descriptions.
All of those which recruits have the info there what they are searching for and who you have to talk to. Who you have to talk to is usually a diplomat or director so if you just randomly talk to someone else don't be suprised if you get scamed one way or another.

CFC and HBC both have a lot of Corps that take newbies because thats what both Coalitions are based upon. Most other alliances have Corps that search new players too because if they don't they won't survuce long in null sec (or only if they live in space noone really wants).

Its not hard to get into a nice null sec corp even if many experts in the forums here like to tell you otherwise all day long.

however watch out test and goons are the biggest scammers in eve, so if some one asks you for a 500 - 2 billion isk deposit, its more than likely a scam and you will never see that isk again.

scamming new players to me should be a bannable offence.

Could anyone elaborate on the difference between Dreddit (and its alliance) and GoonWaffe (and its alliance) besides the comminuties they come from?

Pirate

the communities they come from make a big difference even when it comes to EVE.

SA is a dictatorship - a moderator thinks your posting is bad and you are gone.

Reddit is populism in action (yes, I am aware that this not how up/downvote are supposed to be used but that's the reality).

Goonwaffe tries to keep on to their SA legacy of goodposting with varying success.

Dreddit is the home of sperg, populism, cute animal pictures and forced memes.

Thanks

for an example of how this translates into actual EVE-related decision making processes:

Montolio's "spam jabber if you want war with goonswarm" broadcasts and his "do you want me to come back as TEST CEO or not?" forum poll could not have happened in Goonswarm (where any conflict with a key coalition partner would probably have been settled quietly in illum and not via alliance-wide broadcasts) but are a perfect embodiment of the worst aspects of reddit.

Ex-Test member here.

Do not join Test or Goons.

I know as a noob the draw to the big boys is strong but honestly it's very cold and extremely cliquish in these alliances. You have to fall in and kiss ass to stay.

Find a smaller, tight-knit group of people that will be willing to train you up and allow you to be yourself. Make some good friends. Don't be like others and play this game to be someone's robot or meatshield. Don't play this game to login and deal with some CEOs over-inflated sense of relevance.

Now, you've been warned. You you chose to pursue membership with these people and get scammed or trolled relentlessly once in because you stepped one toe out of bounds, don't come crying.

Max Doobie can be your best friend or your worst enemy Solstice.

You call me "ShoobyDooby" again and I'm going to hunt you relentlessly. Then I'll have Test and Goons make your EVE life miserable until you quit.

Don't do it again dude." -Max "The Menace" Doobie

You're a lying f****** dude. Tell these people about how we scammed a mark and I let you have 100% of the take instead of splitting it because I wanted to show I was appreciative for the tips.

Tell them how I found a corp to scam, called you in to cut you in and even said you could take 90% of the take.

Tell them how many times I've sent marks' names to scambros because I was already working on one, and just wanted to help out, having seen a nice mark in recruit channel but I myself didn't have the time to scam them.

Yeah that's"burning" people dude.

As I told you the other day when your p**** ass called yourself "calling me out" in channel, you're bandwagoning f*****. You want to be with "TEH KEWL KIDZ" so you conform and jump on someone you see others don't like.

Get your wife/GF on and have her tell us how she beats the **** out of you everyday, send you to buy her tampons and makes you hold her purse at the mall you f****** a**licker. Be your own man and nut the f***up. You out of ANYONE have ZERO reason to hold any animosity towards me, but as I stated in OP, motherf****** these days think it's cool to be pom-pom holding conformist cheerleaders.

That's not even close to minimum for an increasing number of Null Sec corps... c'est la guerre.

Another question Attention

I know trust is of great importance in EVE.

What consequences would it have to have GoonWaffe, Dreddit or other major null alliances in your corp history?

Well, if you're joining someone who doesn't get Goonwaffe, Dreddit, or the other major null alliances, then I guess it would probably have a negative impact on your application.

However, if you're one of the people that "get" those corps/alliances, and you understand how they work socially and the benefits you can gain by having membership in them, then it wouldn't really have much impact.

For example, being in TEST Alliance only shows people in good nullsec alliances that you've had some nullsec experience. If you're a newbie mining corp, you probably wouldn't want to recruit someone from TEST because those dudes are probably going to try to scam you.

What do you think?

The frothing at the mouth "Death to goons" "Death to TEST" "Death to PL" "Death to Bob" "Death to nullsec alliance" people will never recruit you, the current enemy alliance will think you're a spy alt, and years from now when they're either dead, or have moved on, or have signed a non-aggression-pact and are buddies, your past membership combined with solid killboard stats may get you invited all over the place.

You're trying to make a science out of social interaction, and there's already an official science, and it's not an exact science.

Think a little before asking some of these questions.

I'd still like to hear opinions, since not everyone has the same.

How often to large fleet battles occur between large alliances? Is it mainly just small T1 fights or do they bring in large ships often?

Everything can happen at any moment, boring timer OP's are known so no surprise here.

Just take a close look at the last event: 1 guy makes a small mistake and clicks the wrong button leading to a huge capital fight.

This is not the first time, Makalu already experienced this at some point when trying to gank whatever ship was at the null station undock leading to 16 supercaps kill including his.

Random escalations happen frequently all over null sec, which proves null sec doesn't need more boring/annoying bazillion HP structures to keep people entertained but more tools for destruction and rewarding reasons to be there/fight for.
And don't get yourself wrong by random whoever me included, there are awesome dudes in every alliance but also scrubs, all you need is to find the one that suits you and go for a ride in cheapo throwaway stuff have some fun.

Forget high sec, eventually move to low first so you can get some experience before moving to null or even WH, but move on from high sec dude, you're wasting your gaming time being there.

Goons only recruit from the something awful forums and the others you'll have to jump thru hoops like a good doggie but it helps to know someone inside who can vouch for you or have a killer kill board with lower SP toon and focus on PVP cause that's what they look for including you got to bare all full API your alt, transactions, a letter from your mother yada yada.

This is untrue. GoonWaffe- the severely bloated 8000 man flagship corp recruits explicitly from SA, member corps in the alliance "Goonswarm Federation" have their own recruiting practices.

Not necessarily. A number of corporations within Goonswarm recruit from their own direct forums. For example, Bat Country is F13 Forum (I hadn't heard of it either till I did the research), and Merch Industrial is Penny Arcade's corp. Anyone attempting to recruit you from here is probably attempting to scam you - in short, the only corporation I can think of off the top of my head that recruits from the world would be WiDot, but there are some others.

As for TEST, I believe only Dreddit recruits directly from outside of the game. Most of the other corporations are legitimate corps...but I don't know for certain.
