Gladiator System: The Solaris VII of EVE

In the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe, there is a planet called Solaris VII, where lone wolves (solo mech pilot) go to win fame and fortune as the world is devoted solely to sporting events, mech matches being their crown jewel.

Why not have something like this in eve? Something that's instanced based - would pair you up in a "weigh" class system a la Solaris VII and real life wrestling, and when you die - you die just as you would normally. Winning however? Earns you money, fame, w/e it takes to make it worthwhile.

People could place bets on major matches as well via the contract system, which a few additions it could be a possibility.

In a sorts I propose a sort of game ran, non stop alliance tourny that caters to the small group or individual pvp pilot who wants instant gratification (or death)

The cure all for blue balled pvp pilots everywhere or a terrible idea?

I'm sure an enterprising player will do this without CCP making a formal one.
With the dualing system that's on its way, its doable.

Why? That's one of the selling points of the game.

The problem is... there is no way to do this in EVE.

Total skill points is not indicative of a pilot's combat ability nor which specialty(s) they may possess.

The current mechanics allow for people to do this. Just find someone who can be trusted and set up your own matches.

And as I pointed out before in other "arena" threads before this one...

if there was a "controlled" environment where fighting "fair" was enforced... why would people ever look for fights in "uncontrolled" places (like low and null-sec)?

This basically kills the whole point of low-sec and takes away from "pointless" open world PvP.
