I am looking for ideas, suggestions and feedback concerning the following:

I have access to 4 characters with tycoon 4 (about 1,200 orders afaik). I can API verify this if necessary.

I have been looking for a steady burning source of income and I believe I have identified one.

I quit the game for a couple of months early last year and converted all my wealth into PLEX. From an initial 60 I now have about 30 left. Im aware that 15bn doesnt make me even close to rich but its about 2.5 years playtime which is enough for me.

Im reluctant to convert these PLEX back to ISK because historically they are a great inflation beater and I feel my 15bn will buy less PLEX back in the future.

which leads me here.

from initial estimates I figure I could get a good start to my operation with about 5bn ISK, so I would be looking to raise this sum.

If I have to give the PLEX to a 3rd party as collateral then I have to incorporate a fee into the offering which will affect the bottom line.

I thought about this several ways and this is what Ive come up with:

1. create a much smaller initial offering - say 1bn. This reduces risk to investors and requires far fewer investors. My concern as a long time lurker in these forums is Ive seen far to many 'start small to scam big' offerings and there is nothing but my word to back what im offering up.

2. create the 5bn as an initial offering but split the 5bn into lots of shares - again with a view to reducing investor risk. This has the disadvantage of probably taking longer to fill. Again there is a trust issue.

3. I am unsure of the total profit from this venture other than to say it will be greater than 0%!! Historically it has produced above 10% consistently but :EvE: how should I go about deciding what I should tell investors?

I would be happy to extend you a 5b loan collateralised with PLEX, provided the interest rate was reasonable.

You can use a 3rd party (Chribba, Grendel or VV are acceptable to me) at your own expense, or you can simply set up an item exchange contract of 10 PLEX for 5b isk and avoid any additional costs, your choice.

right, so to keep them, and give away interest payments for no reason.

This is your best bet. There are the risk takers around but usually it's not a long term investment such as yours appears to be. (Usually limited by several weeks)

in short it just seemed easier to ask folks to throw the money in so I can go now rather than wasting the time maturing my 1.5

Ive also always felt that I should probably run a few things because the day I have a 50 billion ISK idea I cant very well walk in here and say " hey guys i got a great idea, whos got 50bn?"

so its a little bit about the rep grind and a little bit about the perception of making my life easier.

I made the mistake of forgetting this is MD where the average post is more about the poster than the OP.
