I don't know. The recipients of can flipping experience the emotion grief when bad things happen to them, so logically you are griefing them.

Why be ashamed of being called a griefer anyways?

It's something people should be proud of. They aren't obviously giving people joy and happiness, but rather the gift of pain and suffering.
