For the Myrm, Drones 5, some levels in drone interfacing and other drone skills are near-essential. T2 guns aren't as much, I currently fly a Myrm in L3 missions, mix of T1 and T2 tank, T1 guns, T2 drones. It's an awesome ship

Try smaller guns (200mms), better for hitting smaller ships, of which there are lots in missions. Drone link's not that useful unless you have sentries. With the new NPC AI, you don't really want to be sending your drones off 50km or so, there's a good chance they won't make it back. Keep them close and you'll have a lot less trouble.

OP, focus your skillplan on the bases. You got BC now? fine, but even if you don't get radical changes upon every skill training completion, you really need to build solid bases and they'll apply to all ships.
Read up the following topic. If you follow it, you should find yourself with a tougher ship and way more room to fit mods, indeed you'll have to add a bit of drones since your gallentean, but if you don't, you'll end up going for bigger-better options and end up in a frustrating T1-fitted Dominix that can't pop the scraming frigate in a mission and exploding under the amount of DPS the rats are dealing.

When I started playing, I got caught in the skill completion trap, I was buying new skillbooks everytime I could inject them because the "Skill Training completed" chime made me feel like I was progressing. It's really nasty, because of course you can suddenly fit new mods, guns, etc. but my ships were still paper thin and the cap was still running out as fast. After losing my first destroyer, then my first cruiser in a L2 blockade, I went for battlecruiser because more HP and fitting room, but still struggled on some missions...
Since then I caught up on support and fitting skills, but week long skills don't look as daunting anymore since I can actually do stuff with my boats.

Yeah if there is any new player reading this (gallante) it would be really good for you to train drones to 5 before getting BC or immediately after otherwise if you are in the myrm you will be frustrated with what you can do with it. Actually you will be neutered. I still am speaking with a high pitch.
