how to fairly value BPCs?

I'm trying to put some guidelines together for valuing BPCs so i can automatically value them for purchase.

This seems to be the typical best case formula:

(jita buy of item(s) produced - jita sell price of components (adjusted for ME of BPC))

You are lucky to find a BPC priced so that the builder breaks even.

Most BPC contracts you lose money building the items, with perfect skills. I can only assume the component prices changed after the contract was created.

I'm still looking for BPC contracts where you actually make a profit selling to Jita buy, i'm sure they exist but its tedious looking for them (hours)

Lots of aging BPC contracts too, so even at break even prices these copies appear to not sell very well.

so since its harder to find BPCs where the builder will break even, is that the fair price?

I think real manufacturers aren't getting their BPCs from contracts, but from their own research. Unless it's just to buy a large bulk of BPCs at a discount, most of those sales are to people that are building for their own use.

I think the only real way to value a BPC is by the price they actually sell at. Like many things in eve, it might actually be a profit loss to create a BPC in the first place. So you'll just have to keep an eye on the market, check the history of other sellers to see what they're selling them at, and decide if it's worth it.

With the increase in shiptoasting, the Report timer needs to be shortened.

It is not always about discount, if you need a ridicuolous amount of bpc you are probably not stricly looking at discount - as far as your margins allow you to do.

Used to run up to 250 inventions per day in the last years, and getting enough max run bpc was a nightmare....

Oh and yes, got my bpo permacopying, but sometimes i bought it, and got no discount price: there is no reason for a seller (well, for most of them) to discount them, if they are 'good' ones.

BPCs don't sell at discount because the typical contract buyer is the guy who wants just to build that 1 ship (he won't look at the resulting price with too much of a magnifying glass) or - mostly - a guy who maybe got 10 different BPCs off his own BPOS but is missing 2-3 so he buys off contracts.

The fair price, is the price where transactions are made and orders become trades.

Some times of the year, a Capital Computer BPC sells for 1.5M other times for 7.5M. Fair price varies with BPC research but - most of all - with the current amount of supply vs demand.

Like "regular trading" there are swing lows and swing highs and it's why I always sell BPCs for 3.5 to 8M a piece and not for 1.5M.

I couldn't even imagine running 250 inventions per day. I have 2 mob labs and 3 adv labs in my POS and running those 16 slots even when I go on a drone binge is brutal. I would have to man the POS for 16 hours a day to get 250 runs. Bleh no thanks!! You crazy man.
