I enjoyed all the tutorials EXCEPT the exploration one. That one is hell on earth, and I will never be doing exploration in this game:p

I dunno, I spent 30 minutes on it and then went "Wait, that was the whole tutorial?" The main problem is that it's trying to explain a visual skill without any visuals.

Just to put something useful in this abortion of a thread:

Found by going to google and typing: EvE scanning

The best thing CCP could do is insert some type of micro video into the tutorial that will actually play in game, either in the broswer or in the mission window. That way it is right there to view and might help a lot of people instead of having into instruct new players in rookie chat to use youtube out of game to view their tutorial video on scanning.

Oh I agree and i've commented as such. Even just inserting a few jpegs of scanning probes arranged appropriately into the text would help immensely. The same for tracking and radius, both concepts which confuse a lot of people and tend to result in people losing their first cruiser in level 2 missions a lot.

I started a new alt recently, and laughed when I lost by first Maller in a mission with her, I forget how "weak" your skills are as a new player (or how foolish I fly missions).

I think the issue is most new players come from other games where they never had to consider looking outside the game window to find their answers or help. It's a tough concept to grasp for a lot of new people that in order to complete the tutorial you need to visit this website, or download this player guide. Not that I want to make the game easier, I certainly don't.

There is an in-game browser...

How is it that everyone and their brother knows how to tab out and watch hulu while mining but can't grasp the concept for educational purposes?

My comment was in regards to new players in the tutorial. Many new players are not aware that there is even an in-game browser . And their mindset is not to think to go outside the game to watch a tutorial on how to complete the new player tutorial. These are things a veteran player does without giving much thought to it.

My memory lasts longer than just a couple years and I remember doing those tutorials...which at that time were much worse. If you've played for more than a couple days and didn't look at what is available on the strip of buttons going down the entire left hand side of your screen, didn't use out of game internet to gather info, didn't ask here for help, etc then the chances are you aren't cut out for this game.

I'll bet dime to dollar everyone knows within a few hours where the wallet button is. The problem here is some people's unwillingness to read and learn. CCP can't patch that.
