You POS owners are such a small minor group

Acording to the CSM minutes we ain't getting a new POS system. You know the one that CCP has used to put off fixing the existing POS nightmare. 'Unifex stated that what CCP did was spend effort and prototype what would make a good POS system. It would, however, only affect the group of people who manage POSes. Focusing that amount of time and effort on some small singular aspect of the game and delivering only that “is what will kill the business”. ' (page 37)

I'm sure all of us who research, or make things in POSes agree that POS are a small aspect of the game, and improving them would not improve the for anyone other than us POS monkeys. Nope not at all.

Former forum cheerleader CCP, now just a grumpy small portion of the community.

Way to read only what matches your narrow minded opinion.

He did not say we would not be getting the POS revamp, only that it would not be done all at once taking up a full expansion worth of resources. They are not willing to devote a entire expansion to such a small targeted group of players. But they have already begun working on it.

The POS revamp will be done in pieces over several expansions so that the entire expansion would not be focused on this small aspect of the game. Besides, based on CCP's track record if they did it all at once, we would have less input itto the result. We could end up with something not even close to what we need. Doing it in smaller pieces will allow us to give feed back on each step/piece as it is done and help keep them pointed in the direction the community wants them to go.

Personally I am looking forward to helping test these new POS mechanics. Some of the idea's I have read from CSM minutes meetings and dev discussions there are going to be big changes.

Nothing has been confirmed yet but some idea's I recall reading are;

- POSes no longer required to be anchored at moons.

- not only can they be anchored anywhere but also close together forming a type of player city

-a possibility of multiple POSes linked together to form city/stations

- Removal of the POS forcefield (not happy about this one myself, but to early to judge.)

- ability to dock at a POS

-new POS modules for added utility

I really think this will be a good thing. I also believe doing it in small steps will give us a much better end result than a complete POS revamp done in a single expansion with no input for the players that will have to adapt to it.

I like many of Bugsy's proposal.

However, I think it would be good if CCP did a re-think of what POSses are, and try to sit down and think hard not just about what they are and how they are used, but what they could be, if they try to think about the potential inherent in the concept.

If POSses could be more, were broader, were more versatile, what might players use them for?

Monoments in space, perhaps? Simply staking a claim, not a claim on space as in imperialism, but just putting up a semi-permanent structure in space to showcase one's corporate presence. Also makes a convenient war dec target, because a POS can't fly down into dock and hide - you have to disassemble it and take it down, preferably within the 24 hour notice period.

Shops in space? Places to sell packages of items, such as pre-fitted ships loaded with ammo, perhaps for the purpose of PVP? I'm thinking neutral corps could supply these to FW or Red vs Blue, and earn a small but steady profit. Or they could be places to sell rare items that are deliberate taken out of the broker-based Market system by CCP?

Additional space for Ambulations? Even if I could buy my own bar establishment in Dodixie or Rens (Amarr and Jita probably charge too much rent), and have guests come in and socialize, it might be more fun to have my establishment at a POS-like structure, in space. Maybe a bit out of the way, maybe having more shady corners where avatars can sit and make shady deals?

Those are just three possibilities. Notice how different kinds of POSses, different kind of POS basic units, i.e. Control Towers, could exist to serve each of those needs. It's all about being able to think beyond that which is, and to instead contemplace that which could be.
