PVE in EvE is well recorded and documented with an variety of "info (aka cheat) sheets", such as the Evelopedia, which cover every aspect and area from hi-sec missions through to WH signatures.

An effort to make PVE more interesting, less predictable and more engaging could be made across all categories. (I'd like to take this opportunity to admit I know nothing of programing.) I know there have been multiple threads talking about NPC AI and while that is a great idea I think it would still allow for too much linear game play where the pilot knows which ship to shoot and when, as well as what structures drop items and so on. Instead I would like to see PVE to take on the randomness that is offered by random number generation.

For example; You talk to your mission agent (level) and get the storyline and location. At this time the the RNG kicks in and fills out the mission with X; where X = difficulty + number of ships + ship types + special mods/ships and so on. As for the background, couldn't it also be formed through RNG? Y = system + structures + asteroids and so on? So once the mission is created (from accepting it from the agent) the area and details are saved (on the pilots pc) until it is completed. In this manner instead of flying into the level 1 mission knowing you were going to fight 20 frigates, you may fly into 3 cruisers and an elite destroyer or some other combination that equals X. The arena is populated with Y including the items needed for the particular story as well as the random flotsam and jetsam of rocks, wrecks and buildings.

In this fashion each mission, anomaly, signature, etc would be more unique while still fulfilling the storyline requirements and, I believe, once the initial work is done this would make creating new missions etc incredibly easy as it would only require a "story" to be made and the parameters set.
