tech 2 auto targeting missiles (idea)

i looked for a thread on this but couldnt find one within a reasonable amount of searching

Auto targeting missiles suck, mainly because they do not attack targets reliably. But what if they were changed so that they functioned like regular missiles (or drones for that matter) in that while a ship is able to get a target lock, auto targeting missiles would attack a targeted ship first.

Also, when a target is destroyed, any missiles currently in flight would seek out a new target instead simply vanishing. When a ship is unable to target a ship, auto targeting missiles would seek out the last target acquired before being jammed.

Alternatively, make auto targeting missiles seek out any enemy ship currently being target painted, before choosing the nearest target to attack.

I think these changes would help curb our issues with these missiles.

Why is your thread entitled "tech 2 missiles?"

The problems you mentioned are programming bugs, and need to be applied to tech 1.

Tech 2 would need to have some other useful ability or bonus BEYOND simply not being broken...

because they refuse to fix the tech 1 variants i figured they might be open to fixing them as a tech 2 variant lol. either way it'd be nice to have them not suck
