If You Had to Restart...

If I had to start over my skills would still be all over the place. There is simply too much I like doing when the mood strikes. There is pure pvp, missions and reprocessing loot, scanning down anomalies, planetary interaction and the cloaked blockade runner to get the goods, building manufacturing, and on rare occasions even mining. I enjoy doing nearly all of it.

There is one thing I probably wouldnt train up until I had most everything else and that is Tech 2 production. Too much of a PITA as I've gotten lazier.

So yea, I would be just as screwed now as I was at the beginning of my career because of all the skills I would need.

When it comes to PvP, I am like a chiwawa hanging from a grizzley bears pair of wrinklies for dear life.

Restarting is the worst thing you could possibly do.

You will lose all the skillpoints you have gained, which will in many cases help you down the road. Aside from slightly higher clone costs, which really dont get all that expensive till you are over 90mil SP, and even then aren't bad, theres no disadvantage to having more SP.

The skillpoints you have, you may not think are useful, but will come into play down the line. You will think, hey, I'd like to try this, or that out, and will find that you already have part of the training done. I find it HIGHLY unlikely that most of the SP you have trained, you won't find some use for down the line. Plus, I'm sure that you have some into immediately useful skills, too.

If I had to restart, simple answer, I wouldn't. The ONLY way I'd play new characters, is if my current ones got permaband, or deleted, and if they did, I would quit, far too much time and effort invested into them. Can't think of any good reason that you'd want to start a new character except for "all my empire faction standings are -10" in which case, move to 0.0/lowsec and never come back to highsec lol.

I would not restart. The opportunities of today are extremely limited and it would be truly impossible even to attain the meager sums that I am fortunate enough to have gathered.

I would. All it'd take me would be to train 1 week worth of skills, ask on Market Discussion for a 20-30B loan and voilà! P

If I had to restart from scratch, I'd probably quit entirely.

or maybe just scam people/corps since that seems to be end game. Pirate

Straight for the bomber, then over to the Strat Cruiser.

Then probably a lot of industry stuff.

Tell someone you love them today, because life is short. But scream it at them in Esperanto, because life is also terrifying and confusing.

Yea, adding a plethora of skills to a players' que when starting off sucks. Don't mind a certain path players must take and then later branching off but tons of wasted sp in things I don't really need either.

Starting off my goal was to have a well rounded pilot only to learn that it's impossible with the never ending time in queue

I wish I hadn't piddled around with mining
but now I have a fallback if I ever need to chill out and mine

If I had to start from scratch, I'd set myself up to get into a tengu but probably stay in a drake for quite awhile until I was fine with where my skills were.

I'd go for Minmatar ships and projectiles. Not sure I'd train anything above battlecruisers though, smaller ships are way too much fun. Actually, with the recent changes to cruisers I'm not sure I'd train battlecruisers. 6/4/4 stabber is crazy.

I'd not train the industry and mining skills I trained when I was just starting out, a bit over 1 mil wasted SP on an otherwise completely combat character, otherwise no regrets.

I would love to restart, but only if everyone else did as well. Year zero ftw.

Looking at my sheet, I've probably got at most 350k skillpoints in things I am probably never going to use again (and since that includes social skills which helped me into missioning when I first started, and things like salvaging which was a main money-earner when I started, a lot of that was useful when I trained it, if not any more). Sure, if starting from scratch, I could have done things a lot more directly, and hence sooner (cap ships, large T2 weapon systems), but by and large, by the time I got to the amount of sp I have now, I doubt there would be many differences.

None of my attempts in that ended well :p Frankly, imo claims of Minmatar are exaggerated. While it's true they have a few awesome ships (such as the Stabber), I feel that most of them are fairly mediocre and to make matters worse, they're not for my taste (save for a select few, such as Stabber, Hurricane, Cyclone, Tempest). Meanwhile, I had fallen in love with missile (caldari), hybrid (caldari, - moa, + megathron hulls) and laser (amarr) platforms. Different people, different preferences, I guess.

OP: I wouldn't change a thing, because every choice I made brought me to where I am today. Had I not done those mistakes along the way, I wouldn't be who I am, I wouldn't do what I do. So no, none of those points were wasted.

Agreed on the tengu bit with Roime. It's a really versatile boat. Just a suggestion, instead of restarting just roll another alt and get him to pvp with those spanking new cruisers! Cheap as chips and so much fun!

HamRacal is fine, cheapo and fun. No wasted SP, just time not using it.
