recently checked out Star Trek On Line

It has borrowed heavily from EVE but who hasn't.

One thing they do much better is give players reasons to spend real cash in the game without making those players impossibly powerful.

You can either grind for modest improvements or you can purchase their version of plex and buy upgrades for your characters personal weapons , clothing, equipment and cosmetic fun stuff like paint jobs for your ships, hair styles

I found my self spending on STO quite happily . EVE , they copied u, u copy them.

Looking forward to Dust and looking forward to non combat social interactions in ships and on star bases.... as well as more planetary interaction...... I am still flying in a universe of baubles for planets, pretty to look at but do not touch,

EVE your hot

There's this thing called the Noble Exchange. You should probably visit it. It lets you buy random crap that has no impact other than to make you look fancy.

If they released more stuff for WiS like goggles, clothes, companion drones then yeah, people will buy into it, but CCP aren't adding anything to WiS for a while.

This should be mandatory for anybody that wants a good argument of micro-transactions (pro and con).

I would imagine a lot of new players start off buying an ETC and converting it to plex to get a head start on some space money.

These are the following things I would buy for my avatar:

Pirate Eye Patch
Pirate Hat
1890's monocle
Top Hat
Bow Tie
Necktie
Curly Pencil Thin Mustache

Looking to talk on VOIP with other EVE players? Are you new and need help with EVE (welfare) or looking for advice? Looking for adversarial debate with angry people?

I buy this thing from CCP every month.

It's called a Subscription.

STO is an F2P. EVE is not.

Get Out.

I'd pay $50 to $80 for a name change.
I'd pay $100 for a one time per account security status increase.

I won't ever pay for character clothing. I see no value in that.

CCP should add some new NEX items, the current selection is too limited. Ship skins would be good too, who knows when we'll ever see it though.

Yeah i'd love to throw my 5500 AUR into the nex,
but there's nothing i'd consider worth of buying.

I want to buy a cosmetic hole, displaying a bullet shot into my head.
Maybe a stabbed, bloody eye ? That'd be cool !
Or how about half a face only ! Bet that would make some of you puke ! hahaha xD

I already pay about £10 a month per account. I don't feel like buying vanity items for an avatar I never wanted in the first place. I only bought the goggles because I was given free aurum from the whole EVE IS REAL thing. And that was only so I didn't have to pose my eyebrows.
And vanity paint jobs for a ship? It better be either a BPO or transferable between ships. Not going to drop RL money on something that will get blown up.

I honestly don't understand why CCP is shying away from adding to the nex store (other than them possibly having sacked the folks working on it). Extra clothing, pirate faction clothing, fireworks even perhaps (or similar silliness). Perhaps a payperview streaming inside CQ :P

I think the backlash from Incarnage made them think twice but they really shouldn't, as long as they stay away from the forbidden fruit they can add as much as they want, and we'll all buy it.

It is literally the exact opposite to EVE in every way.

See the dip in Eve subs in Summer 2011? That's what happened the last time CCP thought about MTs in Eve. The only reason the subs went back on the increase was because CCP said "no gameplay-affecting MTs will be in Eve".

If they change their mind then Eve really will die.

I would be more than happy to buy limited edition CQ decor with PLEXs.
