I just resubbed to the game. I left previously when I discovered I wanted a change from life as a low-sec pirate. Unfortunately the security rating blocked off parts of the game I wished to explore.

I'm going to try very casually for a month to repair this security rating. I hope I can do it as I want to play this game if possible. Is ratting in null sec still the best way to regain security rating?

I guess I have a manticore at the moment. I must've been trying stealth bombing rats when I left last time.

Yes
Why don't you just join a null alliance ?
You will raise your security level before you even know it.

Why would you want to go back to high-sec if you have a choice ?

Anything you want to do in high-sec can be done via a alt.
Most things there require very little training/

Do null sec alliances want people with a shady pirate history? My ~35 million SPs are all over the place. My initial plan was to try trading. Null sec is pretty intense I imagine.

Why not, if anything your resume should look pretty good to them, they want people who are willing to PvP.
Just don't shoot anyone blue.
Other then that you can have a good old time.

And if you want to trade then null is even better cause you can finance your trading alt with ISK from null.

It's not intense but you will be expected to contribute to the corporation or alliance. If you want to fix your sec solo then find an empty constellation in nul and kill highest bounty rat in each system in a circuit. A couple of hours a day won't take you more than 10 days to fix it. Train fast talk to at least 3.

And what null alliances are you blue with?

On topic: Belt ratting is pretty fast these days.
I am sure if you do a search you can find the fastest way to get your sec up.

Obvious forum alt?

@ Topic

Pretty much what everyone else said. Join null alliance and rat or find an empty cons and do it there. Won't take long.

My answer: Can you fly a bomber? Go to Syndicate.. Run around the region killing battleships in each system for 3 days. -10 to -1.9 in a couple of days. Dont have time to just grind it out? Log on and off in syndcate and spend your playtime doing this. You will also make a fair amount of isk off possible faction spawns!

This.. just that I did it in Great Wildlands, for the 3rd .. 4th time now.

Honestly getting to true -10 was more of a hassle than gaining back "hisec access".

Thanks for the help. I'll give this a go in my manticore. It is currently the only ship to my name.

Just pick the right area for the torp bonuses.

Personally I'd say Great Wildlands is the best area for this - use a hound with nova torps. There are only two Angel frigates that scram so its just pop BS, move to new system, pop BS, move to new system etc. Most of GW is empty apart from the main route through M-M, E02.

Yeah, a bomber is the best way to grind sec status in hostile space. Also, keep in mind that killing two rats in the same system within 15 minutes isn't going to lead to a better sec status gain, even if you changed systems in that time. You probably won't even need to go to belts too often since BS rats spawn on gates.

Warp to belt - kill rat - warp to next belt.

Rinse and repeat!

Dont go from belt to belt. Security status gains are tied to the solar system. If you want to raise it fast, first, apply to an alliance with low recruiting standards. Some renter alliance part of a large coalition is generally a good choice. Then, go from system to system, in a cheap fit battlecruiser, t3 works really good for this. Fast, high damage output, and you can get enough of a tank to survive the spawns.

Then, go into a system, if there is a battleship on the gate, kill it. if not, warp to a belt, and kill 1 (one) battleship. then head to the next system, and kill 1 battleship, then the next. Try to work yourself in a loop. The way security status works is you are granted a security status increase based on the highest security status modifier target you kill, within that 15 minute window, per system, so

If you kill 40 battleships in 15 minutes, in solar system A, you will get a sec status increase of X
If you kill 5 battleships in 15 minutes, in solar systems A, B, C, D, and E, (Ideally in a loop), you will get a sec increase of 5X.

Not true.

It is broken AND I did it myself. Being "broken" doesn't require a third party.

I meant game mechanics broken, rather than hyperbole broken. It was sort of a joke. Straight

Well, go shoot a few pods to fix it again.

Wouldn't want to stay at -9.4 or anything higher,
that's just embarrassing.

use a cloaky & nullified t3 and select some relatively quiet npc region and you won't need any blue standings to do this.
