I have no clue if this ideea has been disscused before or not, there for Im here to ask about it. I know CCP, doesnt accept nor wants to give the players the option to change their names, I can understaind why (scammers, exploiters, etc.) they must be under surveillance.

So for me, who I am bored of my char, don't like the name, too long history in game, etc (various reasons, status with different factions, waste of sp in different areas, there isnt too many options) unless.. we could have an in game button for.. Skillpoints transfer.. something like.. Kung Fu Master giving the final lesson to their apprentice.
Of course, there could be ways to exploit this thing.. like making 10 trial accounts and transfer SP to some other account, but for this I have other ideeas as well..

Make sp transfer only once a year. no more than.. lets say 25 milions points, make the transfer linked just between 2 chars, that means, If I m4iden wants to transfer sp to lets say Smith.. I can only transfer to him and thats it.. no one else should be able to get points from me and as well, Smith cannot receive sp from other one than m4iden.. that way exploits are being eliminated.

Lets discuss!

You live with the choices you make, even if you don't like them. So no.

I do agree with you sir, on a real life level, but this being a game after all I do not agree. ;)

And by that you mean "it would benefit me so I wants it, even though it would fck up the complete fabric and idea behind the game, it being a sandbox and all where you're responsible for your own (bad) choices&actions".

No.

Problem solved.

How does a 2007 player not understand what an awful idea this is?

Jint Hikaru - Miner / Salvager / Explorer / SpaceBum In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I don't think re-names are a bad idea myself, re-name for a PLEX limited to once per character, or once per transfer, as long as there were a tab just like your employment history that lists which names one had previously and which dates he/she held them. Or even an 'AKA' or 'previously known as' directly under the person's new name when bringing up their character info window.

And of course, things such as search, auto-linking, mails, watch lists, etc. continued to be bound to the person if they changed their name. So if one auto-linked, mailed, searched for John123 changes his name to Tom789, it would bring up Tom789's window with information immediately available he was previously known as John123.

But the idea is exceedingly unpopular. At least among the vocal minority who post on the forums.

its not the fact that I dont understaind it, I have thought as well as selling it Aptenodytes and buying a new one.. its just an ideea to be disscused, not implemented and as eve players I expected more arguments than trolls. Theres many on wow forums..

Why is this so bad? argue..

1. Because a 2013 player might have 75 mil sp? and you wouldnt expected?
2. Overpowering the playiers?
3. Abuse wise? like for example selling the skillpoints for ISK? Money?

Lets see.. what other reason you can find.. those were the first that camed into my head..

Remember its just a topic, not a fight, be nice.

There you go. One man, the first who did a good job, thank you for your point of view Hrothgar.

4th reason: Unpopular ideea.

I just want to know opinions

No, Im not a spoiled kid, but I am aware of the fact that I can discuss, at least here.. under these forums.. where IDEEAS are being discussed and not trolled. The point thou you have made: it would fk up the complete fabric and the ideea behind the game is good.

5th reason: Do not destroy the ideea behind the game. Thank you !

It is a bad idea because the whole concept of EVE (and especially the new expansion) as Vilnius points out, is that you live with the consequences of the choices you make.

Plus it could definitely be abused. Old bittervet quits to go play world of tanks, gives some young upstart 25 mil SP for nothing. Is that fair?

of course its not fair, but how's that different from some young upstart buying a 90 mil sp ? that aint fair either :)
The only thing that makes sense for me is the choices.. the ideea of the game.. to live with choices you have made it is strong and give eve online a unique style.

Thanks

You're right. They should ban character transfers.

How it's different is that behind every character is someone who paid the money and spent the time to get the character to that point. They invested lots and lots of RL money, and are exchanging it for ISK. That's fine with me, because they made an investment.

I'd be fine with a way to permanently delete skill points, but it really doesn't need to happen and only helps us OCD folks who want those level 1-2 skills we trained in our first week but will never use gone.

It's different because time was already spent on training that character. It didn't just gain SP over night and the consequences of which skills were trained, came when it mattered. One time I can point to, would be the selling of said character.

So the character bazaar, already fills it quota of consequences and choices. What you are asking for, is a way to remove them.

Standard copypasta applies.

It removes the point of having skills to begin with.
It removes the point of having attributes.
It removes attribute implants from the game.
It removes variety and instead encourages FOTM and cookie-cutter setups.
It removes the uniqueness, history and "character" of your character.
It removes planning and choice and consequences.
It removes goal-setting, progression and any achievement in those areas.
It kills character trading.
It massively boosts older characters over new ones.
It introduces "catching up" as a concept in EVE and instantly makes it impossible to do.
