Actually I derped, I seem to be running them in Fixed Window mode :D

Yeah, I tested and Fullscreen is utterly terribleler version of the exact same visual experience- very slow to alt-tab.

Just to add : cmd+tabbing on mac 21.5" works flawleslly quick between 4 EvE's ... tested multiple times.
