DO YOU WANT A TRADE HUB IN YOUR CONSTELLATION?

Greetings, been trading for several years now, and i am having less time to PvP as i am running a business in Real Life.

I am considering very seriously selling my PvP character that is worth a considerable amount of isk, and investing it in 2 traders to go along with my other 2 traders in training, and investing the leftover capital in a market somewhere in Faction Warfare space where the taxes and fees are much less.

All in all, if i make the decision to sell my toon, and get 2 decent traders, within 2 months time, i will be able to create a market with 1525 orders. This is a lot of orders. To give you an idea of how nice this market would be i'll list some ships, mods, items you will be able to readily acquire for a reasonable price, not a jacked up JITAx10 price.

WHAT COULD YOU BUY AT CAJUN FAST MART?

  • Local In Demand Battleships

  • Local in Demand T3 hulls and subsystems

  • Battlecruisers T1-T2 and Tier 3

  • Capital Class Modules

  • Cruiser of all shapes and sizes (Advanced, Faction, Standard)

  • Destroyers (Advanced, Standard)

  • Frigs of all shapes and sizes (Assault Ships, Covert Ops, Electronic Attack Ships, Interceptor)

  • Transport Ships and Industrials

  • Skill Books!

  • Rigs of every type

  • Faction, Standard and Advanced Ammunition Types of all Races

  • Drones (Heavy Attack, Medium Scout, Light Scout, Sentry, Combat Utility, Electronic Warfare, Logistics)

  • Planetary Command Centers

  • Popular Guns and Missile Modules

  • Boosters and Implants

  • Starbase and Sovereignty Structures

WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR

I'm looking for an active area where there is plenty of fighting going on, ships being lost, hubs being attacked, or whatever it is you faction warfare people do that will drive business to the hub. It doesn't have to be Tama, or Old Man Star, or Amamake, but it could be near there.

I just need to know where a market is needed, a full on mini-jita, as i have set these up in the past when i had 4 traders, they are very popular once established, and people were sad to see them go when i moved them. You never quite realize how much stuff you can post with even 600 orders, it's a lottttt.

so once i sell my pvp character, i will be able to post 915 orders, which is more than enough to attract practically everyone nearby, the list above will probably only cover just a portion of those 915 orders, the rest i will be buying and seeding all those meta modules and t1 variants that so many people might be fond of, faction and officer modules, maybe fighters and blueprints.

I could just as easily not make a forum post and just go set up a market hub and do just fine, but the point here is i want the reduction in taxes and fees, i don't know if i have to be part of the militia for that to take effect, or just be set blue with FW corps in the area.

WHAT I AM WILLING TO DO

In addition to getting a few extra traders, i can pick up a jf pilot and a jf and do special orders or over-stock on special items that are used frequently for roams, ops, etc. If i can make it easier for you and your corp to fight, then good, and if i can give your new recruits no reason to turn down an op, as everything they need is right there, then good.

TLDR: I'm a trader wanting to create a hub somewhere, do you have any suggestions?

Did I miss something in the other 5 paragraphs?

Kamela would be somewhere to consider. Most of the Amarr militia call it home nowadays.

Boardering systems need all ships fitted on contracts, I.E. stabber fleet issues like 10 at a time etc etc, but I mean general lowsec entry points from highsec systems.

In each area, you could even ask what kinds of fleets the locals usually use (as if you where planning to join them or something.

Good luck with that.

I've tried that twice but effort put in that wasnt worth the money. Too low population, too low turnover, shi*ty profit margins and stuff sitting on market for months. Also locals will cut your profits into pieces by selling loot at Jita buy order level or even below.
You know loot is free...

Dont even think about taking your JF to warzone. Guys will undock with 10 Arty nados and *boom* JF gone.

Wow Xintri that sucks.

i've had tremendous luck with the markets i've done in the past, generating around 6 billion per month with very little work involved. Ok, more work than station trading but still, worth the 6 bil.

but yeah a straight up warzone... i'll pass on that, Kamela was a good suggestion i think because it's real close to several FW hotspots and piracy areas, but i could just as easily set up in the place i was previously, which is close to kamela, but in a high security system just one jump off of that area i was speaking of.

thing is, i would like the break in taxes and fees that FW provides, however i don't really know the breakdown on that, does anyone sell out of a lvl 5 FW sov system? what are the rates? how much are you saving?

There is a lot of issues with this. Namely, who would visit?

If i spent the last 4 years going to jita (or having alts living in jita) and moving my stuff to jump locations to be moved by compassionate corp members willing to help. Why would I look else where and run a larger risk?

Sure you can place stuff on the market and get people to buy it, but you need exposure to get people to know about the place and want to shop there. Good luck with ensuring prices stay at a competitive level.

I also, for your sake, hope you have worked out the logistics hundreds of times, and have the dedication. If this lasts till next year i will take a bow and congratulate you. Otherwise, I wish you luck (I also sadly say this with some malice) .

Interesting, as i said, i have run a successful market near the bleak lands before with around 1000 orders, for as long as 6 months. It's not hard people, just tedious.

when you ask who would visit, i assume you mean who would buy from the market?

if that is what you mean it is simply a matter of creating an attractive marketplace. if you have enough orders to make the market window LOOK like there is a hub 5 jumps away that has more reasonable prices and a better selection and a full line of T1 stuff, then eventually the pilots will get tired of paying inflated prices at the closer more covienient systems and realize that while yes it's 3-4 more jumps from where they'd LIKE the market to be, its still 7-10 jumps closer than jita, amarr, etc.

usually in business things don't work in that "if you build it, they will come" kind of way, but in this case, it does.

so far i have recieved no mails or pms about any FW corp or alliance interested in a hub so i will probably just set up a hub where i did before :\ not that 4-6 bil a month is bad, but i was hoping to make a little more with reduced fees and taxes.

supersilliousness aside, all the responses have been appropriate and thoughful, and i appreciate it from all.
