First remap - Per/Int?

Hello

I am trying to figure out how to best remap my skills for this character. I am training for a drake in the short term and want to aim for a tengu as a long term goal.

At first I thought about Int/Mem to get my basic stuff done first, but I realized that I would not be able to train for my drake or missiles very well during that time, but if I went Per/Wil I would take a long time to get my shield skills up.

Is Per/Int a good compromise? Would Int/Per be better? I also want to try to get all of the skills for the Battlecruiser change that is coming (don't care much about destroyers) but only after I get my drake to a useable level.

So is it suggested to use a split remap like Per/Int or should I use 2 remaps and do supports first then ships/weapons?

Thanks,
Viktoria

At this late point in the game (I mean the game of racial BC chicken. How long can the contestant put off the training, and will he get done in time, answer to these questions after this message from our sponsors!), you either want those new racial BC skills, or you don't. Make the decision, and stick with it. BC V is very beneficial to your drake anyway. If it was me, I'd rush BC V with per/wil, and try my best to ignore the int skills until after, and doing minimal missile and shield training to just get by.

There's some opinions on early remaps in this recent thread. In short, a lot of people don't recommend it, as early on you'll be splitting a lot of time between ship, weapon, drone, and support skills. Use a more balanced mapping (some suggestions in this thread) until you have a skill base you're comfortable with and are able to plan your skills out pretty far in the future.

yeah, per/int is the correct first spec for a combat pilot.

Put your first year in EVEmon, and then click the button that tells you what your optimal attribs are for that plan. Most likely EVEmon will recommend Per/Int.

For a combat char, it should be Per/Int.

Luckily, you have a few remaps at your hands, but yes, like they said, and you were thinking, perception/intelligence. After 5 or 6 months, I'd suggest remapping to perception/willpower, or int/memory, then using a free remap after 6 months, and hitting the one you didnt do. after the first couple years, if you skill out a good spread of skills to decent levels, you can do full percept/will and mem/int plans for a year, and really accumulate SP at good rates.

Time for the dissenting opinion!
If you don't mind gimping yourself just a little early on (and with a drake you can afford to honestly, they take you so far), then go for the 10 perc/4 will remap. *However*, before you do that spend about three weeks getting nothing but skills that are Int primary. Cybernetics, shield skills (particularly Shield Upgrades), engineering, some stuff in electronics and navigation. You can run out a lot of stuff to 3 or 4 points fairly fast.

Then remap to perc/will, hammer the BC and dessie skills so you get the extra SP when those get split up. Train the hell out of weapons. Six months later, burn one bonus remap and go to 10 int/4 mem. Now run up the 5th point in things, get the T3 skills that you didn't train with perc/will map, get more cap skills (that you didn't really need for the passive tanking Drake), etc. You'll finish out the year with lots o' SP and 5's in many core skills.

That said, if you want to stick with the int/perc remap, go balanced. 7 in each. That way you'll get decent training times either way you go... it's not like you're going to spend ten months doing perc skills and only 2 doing int. At least, I hope not.
