It does shine a light on the doom-sayers, when eve continues to grow. I am looking forward to what EVE's 10 year Expansion is going to be.

This is very true when observing EVE-Offline graphs. Not that I WANT it to be dying. It just makes the deny-ers look even more foolish.

Didn't you get the memo? Eve is dying, the numbers are all wrong because 18 year old armchair virgin experts say so, 'Die, eve, Die! ' I would think Chribba would have the records on the highest PCU recorded in the last 2 years and the exact time of the rebound. Care to comment, Holy Lord of Veldspar?

That depends on what you count as the rebound.

The rebound from Incarna happened with the mere news that crucible would be a feature-fix expansion, and it's largely been upwards-trending ever since. This last (massive) bump happened with Retribution, though, and while the stats might not look like it, it's been growing fairly consistently since. Christmas and New Year's have always been low-pop days — apparently spending time with family and friends trumps EVE — so they regularly drive down numbers to much lower than the standard pops at this time of year. This year, though, they've been very high even for being the holidays.

For comparison, look at the 2011 graph, starting just before Incarna, and the the 2012 graph. The massive drop in 2011 was obviously Incarna. That dip-and-bump in 2011-10 was the week the Goon ice interdiciton started, only to be completely outdone by the first devblog about the changes in Crucible and the hope that sprung for it. A lot of that was later (temporarily) undone when a whole slew of AAA-titles had their Chrismas release just before the expansion itself went live. The numbers continued to slowly climb in early 2012, and as usual, we see the standard spring decline in, followed by the normal summer rise… and then a ridiculously large increase as Retribution hits.

Oh, and since the new year, we've consistently been at 8–9k above previous year's levels.

Dud(ette), we all know what happened on the summer of rage. Sure, we don't have much data yet but factor in the dip after incarna and it actually looks like EVE is recovering and is in good health. We are in better shape this winter than last and PCUs has been growing steadily for a month. Yeah it is holidays but it was holidays last year too.

EvE Online is the only MMO that has growth, every, single, year.

Fact.

Show where the word December came into the discussion ? By your hand............, that's how. Whatever.

You thought it was 2012. You said it was "last year". Then you remembered that it was 2013. Then you said it was 2010.

2012 - 1 = 2011

This is difficult stuff.

Clearly there is high demand for space based sandbox MMOs if EVE can get that amount of players without content expansions for 3 years in a row.

And MMO developers continue to clone primitive Everquest / WoW themepark gameplay in Rift, LOTRO, TERA, TESO, TSW, SWTOR...

Funnily enough, the last time we got a content expansion, it set off a pretty significant decline, only to be followed by a failed content-patch that caused that downwards slope to turn into a vertical drop. P

Define "content" as it applies to EVE please.
