The 10 Hour Hero program is named after the fact that it takes approximately 10 hours of preparation. This time may be spent while you, the player, are asleep or away from the computer. All you need is a free slot on an existing account, or a willingness to start up a new trial account. The procedure is exceedingly simple: begin as a Gallente or Minmatar character, and then select one of the following ships as your training goal: for Gallente, the Catalyst; for Minmatar, the Thrasher. Run the tutorial missions if you want to get some free skill books, or send your new character some money from your main account.

Regardless of how you choose to fund this character, you need to train the following skills:
- Propulsion Jamming I
- Gallente Frigate III -or- Minmatar Frigate III
- Destroyers I
- Small Hybrid Turret III -or- Small Projectile Turret III
- Weapon Upgrades I
- Mining I

These are your basic skills necessary for this operation. Even with a default attribute spread and no implants, you should be able to get all of it done within 10 hours. If you have extra time, or if you want to continue training this character to be even better at his job, then consider the following skills:
- Gunnery IV
- Rapid Firing III
- Surgical Strike III
- Controlled Bursts III (for Gallente ships only!)
- Energy Management II
- Energy Systems Operation II
- Weapon Upgrades IV

Once you have your desired skill levels in the aforementioned skills, you are set to begin doing good deeds anywhere in New Eden; but, for the time being, we ask that you limit your operations to the Gallente Federation. Your job is to join a corporation that has at least some mining presence; then, your job is to transport your Catalyst or Trasher, as well as perhaps a Navitas or Burst, to the mining areas of your newly-joined corporation.

For equipment, you will need the following:
- Miner I (only if you bring a mining frigate with you!)
- 8x Light Ion Blaster I -or- 7x 150mm Light AutoCannon I
- 2x Magnetic Field Stabilizer I -or- 3x Gyrostabilizer I
- Warp Scrambler I
- Cap Recharger I
- Antimatter Charge S -or- EMP S / Phased Plasma S / Fusion S

Your job is to find a Retriever, Mackinaw, or Covetor, and shoot it full of bullets and/or plasma bolts. If you are flying a Thrasher, then select your ammunition based on the local npc pirate types; for example, if you are in Gallente space like I asked you to be, then you should be firing EMP S against your target. Remember to be polite in corp chat, and in local, all the while you are shooting up those mining barges. Many of the individuals whom are engaged in these mining activities are not aware of the irreparable harm they are doing to our environment, so take pity on them; but, do not relent, and do not give up even if your first attempt is a failure. Always keep in mind the fact that our cause is a righteous one, and that you are doing a great service to your space country.

Once the ship is destroyed, shoot the capsule. You may be averse to doing this, but remember that many pilots have their home systems very far away from their operating systems. By shooting his capsule, you are giving your corp mate the "Pod Express," which is a free and quick trip back home so that he can reorient himself. It's basically a jump clone without the 24-hour timer, so you're actually doing him a favor! If there are other mining barges or exhumers somewhere in space, be sure to go ahead and destroy those, too. Your space country thanks you for your valiant service.

Once you've dispatched the offending mining barge(s) or exhumer(s), be sure to pick up the modules from the wreck(s) and put them up for sale on the local market. This will not only give your new character a continued source of money, but it will also allow the Free Market to fairly distribute those resources. Remind your corp mates, if they have any issue with your behavior, that capitalism is the only morally virtuous political model, and refer them to the works of Ayn Rand if they do not seem to understand.

It is entirely possible that certain corporations, not fully embracing the spirit of libertarian space utopia, will react negatively to your passionate pursuit of justice, and you may find yourself removed from the corp upon docking. That is just fine, so long as you made a profit and helped spread the Good Word. Scamper on over to the Recruitment channel, or speak up in the Local channel of a mission hub, to find your next corporation. Never forget that while these people might be angry with you, that your wallet will be growing and that theirs will be shrinking; automatically, this makes your actions justified and theirs inferior. So don't let their whinging get you down, or stop you from doing what you know is right!
