Combat Interaction with the Chinese server

This is not a game suggestion, I'm curious as to what people think would happen, basically a "what if"? Sorry if not proper

Only ship interaction was allowed (combat), as in, like we have Sansha Incursions, if a way for each side was allowed via a Jump Bridge type scenario to jump across and blow up each other in ANY space (could cross via WH space even), of course assuming that no chatting of any type or interaction (otherwise the Chinese wouldn't allow it anyway), ie unless you started firing your guns and forming morse code, no comms.

For all intents and purposes each "side" ships could always look like Sansha ships or Gurista or "insert faction here" so always "look" like the big enemy to all on the opposite server.

As far as getting extra pew-pew do people thing they would enjoy the extra danger, and the ability to have a common enemy to go harrass every so often? Would it be one sided? Would people bother crossing through?

At the very least it would offer completely new targets with new tactics.

I might be TOTALLY wrong, but I get a feeling that everyone would love to gank chinese miners and freighers just as I think they would love to blow up our expensive bourgeoisie ships for delicious western tears.

Could be healthy competition, who knows.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Some reasons this would not fly, in no particular order:

  • There are a ton of ways to send messages in Eve, including naming ships, naming cans, naming loot (which gets dropped), forming words in space with dropped objects, naming characters (and corpse trafficking), etc.
  • Players from one side would inevitably refuse to leave and would continue sticking around "forbidden" space.
  • Even if all of that could be controlled, it is way too much of a "grey area" and the Chinese government would likely not trust it.
  • Bad PR. How would you feel about the headline "MMO developer encourages that Chinese citizens and the Western world shoot each other"? Depending on how it's handled, it could be a diplomatic nightmare.
  • Tranquility and Serenity run different versions of Eve, and are now even managed by different companies.
  • Didn't want that reasonable lore anyway.

Also I'm pretty sure they would own us as everyone on that server probably has like 5 personal titans and what not from their farming.

Most of those are trivial to work around, and my "what if" was _because_ of the fact that China, as it currently is, would never allow it.

As far as "bad pr", I find it laughable that you can turn exchanging 1's and 0's over an internet connection into "shooting each other" - edit because your making it sound almost like physical violence to actual people, not virtual assets.

Touching on your last point, the Lore, It's a game. One day, most probably before me and you are both dead, EVE will be dead, I'll swap more interesting game play for Lore any day.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

Well... at how butthurt some people get when their pixel spaceship gets blown up, and at how much the media likes to vilify video games, I wouldn't be surprised if it did get taken the wrong way. I can see it now: "Breaking News! Video games and world peace: mutually exclusive?"

Eve being dead is irrelevant. I was referring to the fact that the Eve universe has a focus on very consistent lore and being an actual "second world" that makes sense under whatever sci-fi rules it uses. The only way they could make something like your idea work would be with some weird stuff about "parallel realities" or something

Even if it could work, i,d be against it because certain null sec alliances would imediately try to blue them making the whole thing pointless P

The Chinese sever would be overrun with Goons ganking and podding the multi billion ISK faction fit macro Ravens.

Not saying that's a bad thing.

I think it is a cool idea but probably not feasible for political, legal and technical reasons. Technically it would probably be simpler to create a new area of unknown space on a new sever to which players from both TQ and serenity could find their way through a wormhole or something. That would be a cool thing. But probably not acceptable by china.
