It's the inevitable. We all die. Hopefully there will be ways around it by the time we should, but for this purpose lets assume that we all die eventually, and that EvE Online will still be around at that time.

So what will happen to all of the characters and accounts ancient veterans from the begining of EvE Online (us) in 150 years or so? Lets say EvE is still alive in 70 years and assume it has ~4 million subs. What happens to those 4 million accounts of the deceased?

Are they relics? No changes? This doesn't even only apply to EvE either... in a century or 2 the internet will by no doubt have collections of posts on ancient websites made by people who are now deceased... tens millions of them... What?

They go to calculator heaven of course

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

It's going to be hella tough to get a decent character name.

Read the Eula it used to say 1 or 2 year no log in wipe.
Granted that's at their discretion and have no knowledge of them wiping any chars, I'm sure in that time frame those accts would take up a lot of space

Haven't read the EULA, to be honest.

Glathull must live forever. Have to put EvE sub in my will now . . . .

Thanks for the thought, Lugia3.

Though it may be morbid therell be issues surrounding it like most ordinary things. Wills and legal asset responsibilities, not in Eves case mind you unless things change. But imo itll be like books, writings or personal effects left over. Some of it will be tossed and others saved by those who would honor it or bought and sold to the highest bidders.

Again with Eve they can do what they want, at least by the legalese they have now in the EULA and other places. I wonder if push came to shove what they would save or not over that period of time.

Have you heard anything I've said?

You said it's all circling the drain, the whole universe. Right?

That's right.

Had to end sometime.

Well, this character will constantly be handed down and passed on to future generations of surviving family members with the stipulation that this account always stay subbed and active, up to the day when CCP shuts down the servers.

... you of course mean that with "after the character is moved each time with a 2 PLEX payment" as having other people log on to your account is a ban-able offense.

I apparently have no idea what I'm doing.

My daughter has played on an account I pay for. I think you're confusing family that live in the same house, with friends who do or don't.

Sharing log in information, whether a bank or a game, with anyone, and that means spouse and family members, is a bad, bad terrible idea.

They are more likely than not to abuse, sad to say. Same statistic almost as the higher likelihood of suffering a crime, or even murder, by family and friends, much more likely than from a complete stranger.
