Ten Years In: Will the Gate ever open again?

Ten years in, New Eden still continues to thrive but what of the past? Will Eve Gate to Earth ever re-open and if we do come back or they come to us what would be the repercussions?

Will Earth be like this http://youtu.be/VzHbdlSKX1w or http://youtu.be/dQ3Mt9yiz6k?

Anyway, for those who have not made the pilgrimage to the New Eden Gate, please do so. Who knows what will happen to the Enigma of Earth.

Your Hello Kitty skin was delivered last week by SpaceFedex. The delivery guy left it sitting on the outside of your CQ. You just have to open your CQ door to get it :)

Maybe we'll get jump-gates into Jove space too?

Maybe the CQ door will open and we can walk in the station together?

Maybe we'll be able to fly supers in Hi-sec?

Maybe that old blood drop that I've had in my hangar for years will become relevant?

Maybe the super-highways will be re-opened?

Maybe...

We are not amused...

My god both of those movies look awful
CCP, never open the eve gate. As a real fan of the lore, it would remove all of the mystery of the origins of new eden. And if you're going to open it, don't make earth look like that.

Given the existence of Earth Super Weapons capable of destroying entire Eve fleets and titans, weapons that existed before the Eve Gate collapse and that are still insanely more powerful than anything in Eve even after thousands of years, I don't think anyone in their right mind wants to risk getting ROFLstompedBBQ'd by whatever is on the Earth side of the gate.

Pon Farr Memorial: once every 7 years, all the carebears in high-sec must PvP or they will be temp-banned.

Who's to say they didn't destroy themselves since then?

I for one does not want they sky above me to open up with a bunch of trigger happy capsuleer burning through the atmosphere. I think we better leave New Eden on Tranquility.

Who's to say that they didn't?

You have to consider that the Milky Way Galaxy was colonized by Earth, so it's likely that humanity and its wonder-tech survived at least on some level. Even if you assume that the Milky Way blew itself back into a new dark ages, you have to remember that Eve's descent into the dark ages was probably much harsher.

Look at the timeline. Eve only had ~60 years of colonization before the gate collapsed. The Eve colonies weren't self-sufficient and they fell into a dark age. (eve gate history) It then took over 13,000 years before interstellar travel was re-invented in Eve. (Eve gate collpased in 8061 AD, first Amarr stargate in 21290 AD.)

So if 13,000+ year old Earth tech makes current Eve tech look like stone age technology, then it's not worth the risk of seeing what's on the other side of the Eve gate, IMHO.

Well, to be technical, it is open, active, and running, for hundreds of thousands of years....
