EVE is a game. It's a great game and well done CCP

But...

Can anybody tell me of any other game ( RL or virtual) where the rules are changed and the goalposts moved so often?

I get the feeling that some Icelandic economist is taking the **** out of me and ruining my leisure time.

Maybe they get very bored in the long northen winters and like to screw ppl who have a proper sunrise, but my leisure time is my leisure time and doesn't belong to CCP.

After getting webbed, scrammed ganked and gate camped every day in RL its good to come back to something you've got to a level of some control in.

When you get bored being in control of course you start looking for more exciting or challenging areas. Some days you just want easy ISK , the next day you run risks and travel to the tougher places. I don't want to wake up and find that I've got to readapt to stay where I am. Why on earth do CCP think that that is what their subscribers want. Arrogance?

AI changes and "re-balances" ( ie we've shafted your favourite bit) may be part of a bigger plan I don't understand, but i retain the right to vote with my feet.

There's an old Polish saying - "Dont try and teach a pig to sing, it's a waste of time, and it annoys the hell out of the pig"

An engrossing game , but I can feel my addiction wearing off.

Beef (or pork) over!

Every MMO or multiplayer game that doesn't want to die changes the rules on a regular basis. If you want to play a game that always stays the same, you want to play offline single player games, so you can avoid any mandatory patches.

That was a rather indignant "I have better ways to spend my time, I quit!" post. Sorry to see you go!

There used to be a saying about pigs flying, but then they put one on an airplane and that shut everyone up.

Well.... 10years of pure success and a steadily rising customer-base does that to you.
Perhaps you can teach CCP how to run a succesful MMO? Because clearly these guys are WAY out there and have no clue at all...

Sorry to break it to you, but you are actually ruining your own lesiure time.

Lately it has become fashionable to blame others for things - from political leaders all the way down to the common man. Truth is we hold a great stake in the direction our lives are headed in.

Sorry to hear EVE is no longer as fun for you. I play now mainly because of the people I've met and talk to every day, interesting characters every one of them. Not sure if that will "wear off". I hope not.

Anyway, can I have your stuff?

"a steadily rising customer base " thats good news - but maybe it could be a rapidly growing customer base? Complex virtual world is not what I thought I would be concerned about - but it's genuine concern and i take up time to try to explain my concerns from the perspective of a more casual player. The changes to the bit I live in seem hostile and needless.

From what I'm reading the mission ppl are hating the new AI - doesn't make me want to go there so another door closes.

i'm not trying to relate enjoyment to easyness - but I have the feeling Im being made to walk up the down escalator.

I'm a 'mission person', mostly, and I don't hate the new AI.

If I was an AFK mission botter type, I probably would, but I'm not, so I don't.

And the new ship rebalances are great. Rifters aren't the only frig to fly in PVP anymore.

Everything in EVE is a trap.

And if it isn't, it's your job to make it a trap...:)

Football manager online...loved that game, but the mechanics got rewritten so often it required a total game reset, then closed completely 6 months later. Eve changes are glacial in comparison.

i confess to two things -

1. i don't know how to get those clever quote boxes into my repiies

2. i haven't played another massive multiplayer online game so it seems I should be grateful for merely 'glacial 'changes?

No, you cannot have my stuff - If I go I will leave everything to the Amarr church.

And yet LEGIONS of EVE players (most of whom never leave high sec lol) don't get that concept at all. They want the benefits of playing an MMO but rant against the things that make the game an MMO lol. It's classic "wanting to have your cake and eat it too" thinking.

And these same people get mad at me when I point out to them that they are playing the wrong game. Well, they are, if i was as nearly as unhappy with EVE and it's community as they obviously are, i sure as hell wouldn't be playing EVE.

How exactly does one play.....and then wind up playing the wrong game ?

I hear they never change anything on that Macs

Joke aside, that code stuff is actually what you want, it is the quote surrounded by quote blocks in the forums markup language. It's like the markup languages used in wikis.
