I play Eve on my Samsung Galaxy Note via logmein from a Windows 8 laptop.
Until recently Eve did not work via logmein and I suspect Windows 8 fixed that.
Seeing is believing

one day in the distant future, no computer or phone will have amazing hardware, everything will be streamed from servers into our monitors/displays, all you'll need is a connection and a screen.

that's what bill gates said, i'm still waiting for this so i won't have to upgrade comps every few years.

I'm still waiting for that whole broadband penetration and higher bandwidth thing to happen first.

As for playing eve remotely, I'v been using team viewer for a while, good for changing skills and simple things but not good for much else, too slow.

If I recall correctly (probably not), Chribba did it publicly via VNC about three years ago first.
Teamviewer also works quite fine via any Android phone/tablet at least.
Also, not sure if CCP is still pursuing this:

You can see it demoed live at Fanfest 2011, on a vid up on CCP's youtube channel, don't have the link handy though.
Considering we already have Tegra3 and with Tegra4 coming out next year probably, EVE natively on a tablet or even a smartphone could actually happen. Keyword, could.

Actually, that is how it used to be before the PC.
