Indeed it's a very good reason to fock up the other 50% using other thing than an old OS most of those keeping it it's not a matter of money to change it but because they DON'T want to change it.

Well .. other games will come similar to EVE but with DX11 and OS support better then XP .... as usual .. EVE is dying.

I've said it before: if you gave people 12 months to upgrade their system/os/gpu, this would not be an issue - and it would give you great opportunity to tweak the client, and flush out older code.

DirectX 9.0c was released in 2004...

That's what Microsoft would like you to think. Truth is that there really is no problem with staying with XP despite the official withdrawal of "support". I am a computer tech IRL, and I have used windows 8

for about 5 minutes, 10 tops

then formatted the machine and stuck XP MCE back on it. :P

only people who are slightly mentally insane still use XP. Even though lots of games still use DX9, you are living in the past with XP, which is due for termination next year.

Its so funny ,People are begging CCP to make upgrades to EvE,but in the same time still want this game to run on a overhauled calculator.

not so much at first though, it was similar to the way XP was when it first came out, but as time has progressed XP became awesome.
7 is becoming a great OS and if M$ had any brains about them, they would continue improving on it rather than giving us yet another OS in some idea that newer is always better.

XP is for those who cant update for whatever reason, just as there are those still using 98
7 is the new default OS
8 is for tablets and those with touchscreens. Admittedly crappy now, but with tech like leapveiw coming out it seems more about getting in ahead of the game.
Also I love having got my phone to tether.
It is glorious on now unthrottled and unlimited data.
I logged so far over 500 mb since Christmas using it for EVE.
