Why are we only limited to 5 drones??

EVE boasts about limitless potential yet we can only manage n control 5 drones?? come on CCP add more skill books so we can control many more...

That would show better fleet support as you could control multiple types of drone at the same time in higher numbers.... i just find it pointless having a ship that can carry 20+ drones but only 5 can b used at a time

Much time is wasted selecting n returning different drones.

Used to be more, then they changed it because, get this, having thousands of drones on the field causes excessive lag.

There's nothing worse than an EVE player, generally considered to be top of the food chain in the MMO world, that cannot smacktalk with wit and coherency.

Do you and people like you even consider game balance before posting things like this or is there some sort of direct connection between your limbic system and the Eve forums?

A Dominix with 15 bonused sentries would push out ~2000 DPS and cause the lag of three drone ships. 500 of them.... well.

Train Drone Interfacing, each level gives you the equivalent of another Drone.

In fact, I heard that this skill was introduced to compensate for only being able to field five drones now.

The only sub-cap ship in EVE that can use more than 5 drones, and you will probably never own nor ever see it (limited edition):

Because the guy who bagged the hauler it was in was cargo scanning in Jita so their choices were to let it go and tell the tale of the day they scanned a Guardian Vexor in Jita or Throw their lot in with the loot fairy and hope for the best. The loot fairy can be a cruel, cruel mistress and this time she decided to play against the ganker. And so, another Vexor was lost.

Almost. Drone Interfacing used to allow +1 drone per level (up to 10 on any old ship). Drone-bonused ships also used to add +1 drone, so full ship skills plus DI 5 would allow 15 drones -- but they weren't bonused.

So do the math. Now any old ship can get 5 drones with the damage of 10 at DI 5 and bonused drone ships get 5 drones with the damage of 15 with max ship skill and DI 5.

The Guardian-Vexor retained the old-style bonus. So, good for it?

Granted, that's all before the introduction of bandwidth -- which is another story altogether.
