Im also reading almost all of these posters are totally Jelly , Totally BSing their brains out with absolutely no clue as to what their talking about without ever stepping foot into a marauder.

I was just about to say, Salvage and loot as you shoot - take's zero minutes off of the mission time, you just gotta click really really fast, during the heavy fighting part of the mission, Pulsing tank, handpicking wrecks, choosing targets wisely etc etc.

The way I do it, I always blow up the Frigates off the field first, as soon as the frigs are gone, I abandon all wrecks, makes picking the good ones from the bad ones as easy as pie.
With some missions you cant do it like that but, Most of them you can.

Wasting a PLEX on a Noctis account is worthless, as this, noctis alt could be in a Pirate battleship/2nd Marauder (one of them is advisable to be marauder) and you could be Dual boxing most missions in under 1 min with like 3000 DPS, paying a noobie 50% of the loot/salvage and walking away in a much better position.

But the salvage drones with 3 tractor beams ShockedIdeaBig smile IM DEFINATLY going to try that right now!
Awesome Idea!

So when you're flying 2 marauders, what exactly are you doing lvl 4 missions for?

As many people have already pointed out, the value of loot / salvage depends on the mission so it is not appropriate to just say to or not to. Try looting every single mission for a while and you'll gradually learn which one you would want to loot and which one to skip.

Also, when you are flying a marauder, you should be literally killing and looting at the same time. Just pick the juicy wrecks and as you finish killing the rats, move on to the next room / mission. Leave the less-profitable wrecks (frigate / drone stuff) behind. No down time for looting. This way, you might be killing slower than a faction BS but you'll be making more ISK (provided we are not considering "blitz" style here.) If you already know your mission has crappy loot, you can use your faction BS for that.

If you are for max income, take some time researching the LP store and go "blitz with Machariel" route.

I hope you have fun finding which style suits you best.

pretty much points out 90% of the information on how to get away with a 800m- bil per day missioning

So, I guess it comes down to personal choice then.
All I had to offer was my input as a new level 4 runner, with a second account. my second account was really going towards mining/manufacturing I just picked up a noctis along the way.

I personally started buying a year at a time, its cheaper (imo) and I don't want to play Eve to try and pay for Eve.

I figured since my other account was going for a hulk/orca at the moment, why not tag along and pick up the junk? After melting down the loot and selling off the salvage my second account ended up with a bit over 40M form two days worth of level 4's.
Almost enough to make it back even on the noctis.

Oh yeah, maximum isk/hour, 110% efficient and all that jazz, I play for "buzzword" and as that is "subjective" so YMMV.

Edit,
If you wanted max isk/hour a Marauder or dual boxing two mission runners would likely be faster. But you would have to know what missions to loot, and what ships in what mission.

Edit again.
I don't even skip missions, I do every mission I am offered because "lol faction standings".

Marauders are really best for single account players. If you're dual boxing then pirate bs with noctis is the way to go imo.

Disagree here. Loot and salvage marauder is too boring - it's slow and have such posibilities as Noctis. I am playing with single account. After running few missions with droped bookmarks i return then with my noctis to the "clear field" with wrecks.
For that reqason a think thhat entire marauder class should be reworked

Don't stay and salvage with the marauder once you stop shooting. Grab whatever you can during while the guns are running, prioritize shooting and moving, then whatever loot you grab on the way is free.

Depends on the mission, Sometimes you get that one in Amarr space against EoM, forget loot and shoot, just shoot loot and loot and Loot and loot =)
I always end up staying a good 3-5min extra on the field to make sure I get everything

I've been using a (fast moving) marauder with salvage drones - 3 tractor beams for a few weeks now and it's the best for me. Less hassle. I hit the afterburner and pop everything chasing me from smallest to biggest in that order - their Transvaal gets low when they chase and they pop much faster if in the shallows of falloff range.

I kill 1/2 the level and then launch them - they never get attacked (even by frigates, i've noticed), but you want then near in case you need to switch-out drones quickly.

The trick is NOT to target anything when you order them to salvage. Then they will salvage the closest thing to you, repeatedly. Your job then is to use the the tractor beams (49,000 with T2's) to bring everything to you and they will hang around and rip right through it all quickly (since they don't have to travel much).

If you select a wreck and then order the salvage, the drones do it and stop. - terribly repetitive. Don't do this.

SO...

Salvage, yes. Everything.

Pluck out only the very best stuff

Hand off salvage to your rig builders and meta 4 parts to your "inventors" - raises chance of success.

Melt almost everything else down at the end of the night or week.

It's nice bonus ISK.

note - I usually kill Serpentis and Angels and make a meager 40-50 mil per session (2-3 hrs). I'm not fast, but I' also not bored.

Just don't listen to everyone who has no numbers.
Most of them did ZERO research.

The right answer is if you do missions in a Marauder - loot and salvage valuable stuff.
If you do missions in a Pirat BS - don't even think about looting or salvaging. And also forget about Noctis.

Now, what's better?! Here is a small portion of math:
The mission Pirat Invasion takes to complete around 12 mins in a Marauder (15 in a Golem). Mach completes this mission in around 7 mins. The LP reward depends on you, mine is around 6000.
Bounty reward is around 9 mil; the loot and salvage value is ~10 mil.
Good lp=isk ratio is 2500+. Mine is 2700 so I'll be using mine.

So it takes ~12 mins for Marauder to make 9.000.000+10.000.000+(6000*2700)=35.200.000 ISK.
And 7 mins on Mach: 9.000.000+(6000*2700)=25.200.000

Mach makes 25 mil isk within 7 mins VS marauder 35 mil isk within 12 mins.
For the same time Mach makes 42 mil isk.

Also there are ~30-40% of missions that Mach completes much faster.

TL;DR
So if you want to make more money use Pirate BS, something like Mach.
And watch your isk=lp ratio.

Salvage or not to salvage?

As you see in the answers here in this thread, every mission runner has come up with his own way to manage missions and looting. There are so many different factors which may have influence on someones decision how to handle it (MissionHub, Mission itself, Accounts able to use, ships able to fly etc).

So I would suggest (and it can be simple as that):

If you like salvaging: go get yourself something to salvage.
If you don't like salvaging: forget salvage.

To put your mind at rest:

Whatever you decide, it won't place you at a great disadvantage. The fine touches of that both ways you'll discover while doing the "Mission Run" Bear
