Hi there I want to organise a raceing event.
Nothing special or open at this point but I wonder if I can get some help by more in depth people in Fitting to setup a ruleset for the Raceing Event.

I am thinking about a race trac made of anchored Containers.
4 container will Mark a Ring that has to be passed.
Missing a Ring will be penalized.

My Fitting Rules:

1) No Offensive Items are allowed. (I dont think this is fun in this race type.)
2) Restriction to T1 Items. (No T2 and faction stuff)

So I have Questions to you guys
a) I am not sure what to do with skills. There are skills which make older Pilots simply faster, better.
And this only because they are longer in the game. Are there any insights how big the Impact realy is?

b) I heared that a lot of containers can lead to lag beaviour in the specific grid. Is that true?

c) Any other Ideas? It feels a little thin atm. And I am not very experienced on the game.

Any help is apreciated. However for starters I want to start small test the Ideas with people who do not mind if it is not working. No Leet or Pro pilots at this point, more Fun pilots. If it is working the hole thing can be expanded, and spiced with more specialized rules allowing more expencive Items. Then I would think more in the direction of an open event for every one.

If you like the Idea let me know. (Especialy if you have more Interest in a "Pro League" )

Have Fun!

You might want to drop Norrin Ellis of Venture Racing a line and get his input.

It doesn't, Live Events are based around storyline development, this more belongs in the ingame gatherings and events forum, as such I'll move it there.

Hello Montange,

First, let me introduce myself.
I'm a vetaran sub-warp racer (sub-warp racing is the name given to these types of races), and captain of my own racing team. That makes me one of the go-to guys when it comes to sub-warp racing, and not Norrin Ellis.P
Sub-warp racing is one of the few things that can make me enter my pod these days, so I'm happy to see your post here.

Now, on to your questions:

a) IMO, in subwarp racing, manual piloting skills and experience are more important than skills like 'Navigation'. Most skills you'll want high are fairly cheap and basic and easy to train.

b) It is true, but usually the amount of cans in a track will cause no significant problems.

c) Check out the Sub-warp Racing Venture (currently inactive) and its videos for inspiration. I'll keep an eye on this thread for follow-up questions. Feel free to mail me as well.

Oh, in case this was not clear, I'd love to be a sub-warp racing pro again.

Good luck,

Thx the Answer Che Biko I will see into it.

I am currently busy with other stuff. So my plans are a bit stalled. I will put you on a test invite list in case I manage to pull this off.

For you answers:
a) Thats why I thought about rings, if you have a streight line then it is not that good.

b+c) I will check the video as soon as possible. Maybe I get a lot of ideas.

I will inform further about Ongoing.

I have been in contact with another Racer from Rens, Raven Firestar. I would like to thank him at this place too for his Ideas and his hidden treasury programm. That is also a nice Ideas there.

My regards to all! I keep it on, even if it takes longer then expected!

Sounds just like what we've been doing on and off for the past five years.

You should check out our Youtube videos, I'm sure they'll inspire you:

Also, feel free to hit me up in-game, I'm always eager to talk about racing!

Basically if you made this like a "Death Race" where its not about just the participants of the race competing against one another, there is also the option for their corp or alliance mates to spring a trap on the "race course" (say its get from Jita to Amarr using stargates only) it would keep it very EVE like, which is what CCP Navigator, Fozzie, & Rise (kil2) were discussing with us at the esports round table this year.

The issue I see is how to present it outside of just having ships positioned to switch and use them as "camera men' along the track.

Tracking who has been killed can be as simple as having a chat log where people can put the kill mails for the participants of the race.

If you would like help in any capacity I'd be more than willing to assist you.

Edit - or I guess you could compare what I was getting at with this
