As for the creepy stalker people, petitions and wardecs exist for a reason, although given the sheer amount of people of course there will be creepers, just gotta deal with them as they come

to be fair i assumed that EVE was like 99% guys playing as girls, the "No Girls on the Internet" thing

EVE is a lot like the military, as for being a boys club. Most guys will get the hint when you toss them a "hey, not cool", but there's always one idiot who pulls a "Herpdurp Hay woman go make me a sammich durr I told her to make me a sammich isn't that funny HTFU don't complain." It doesn't seem to go the opposite way though, as those same men really can't handle it when you start insulting their masculinity. Nothing better than listening to the explosion on voicecomms, when you imply a guy's wedding tackle is "just adorable".

I blame the great Achura Flood of 2007.
New players were told by older players that they absolutely had to roll Achura if they wanted to have a decent, competitive character.
And since the Achura males in the old character builder looked like creepy, haggard pedophiles, most of the new players went with Achura chicks.

I've lost what little shred of faith in humanity I had. Ohh gawd. She's not even that good looking!

I give up. Guys, I need some plex. In return, I'll let you "plex" me. In the dark. No unnecessary touching. I get to listen to my IPod.

(That was not a real request I still have some respect for myself you can still send plex if you want. Just no booty.)

Are you kidding me?

Not even that good looking?

My parents used pictures of her face to scare me when I didn't want to eat my broccoli as a kid.

It looks like a frozen lump of toxic waste inside a chemical toilet.

Women like this usually try to stick to blind men, but even a blind probably wouldn't touch her face, because I bet it even feels ugly....

I think this MMO is pretty much limited in what it can offer the ladies without changing too many things.

A huge problem with getting more of us ladies interested in EVE, is that a lot of you gentlemen don't act like gentlemen. Casual sexism is really off-putting at times. I know, HTFU, but really..even in jest, it gets old, fast.

Along with that, there are a LOT of creepy people in EVE. Well, not just EVE, but gaming in general. Getting e-stalked by a desperate guy is really an unpleasant experience.

Still, for the most part, the manly members of EVE ARE pretty decent. It's the few who make it look bad. Same for the ladies..you don't hear about the awesome FCs and cool female CEOs, but we hear all about "I'll show you my boobs for a director spot!"

In RL I would describe myself as a gent. I always pay first and generally I take the time to shower.

Ingame - gender is not important. Female/Male - I'll treat you the same..
Most do not care what sex you are other than those who don't get any therefore horse- remove yourself.

it's probably more like...47% guys playing girls lol

and a personal note about the sexism thing...i've experienced it in every single mmo i've ever played to varying degrees. though, to be honest, i've dealt with it less in this game than in others. perhaps it's just because i'm pretty new still and haven't faced the full spectrum of players yet. or, just maybe, the community is slightly more evolved in general than the likes of warcraft, rift, or AoC communities are.

i long since learned to roll with the punches. should i have to tolerate crap that in the first place? no. i should not. but, it is what it is i suppose. give as good as you get and move on.

It's a good thing I don't have sound; I'm not sure I want to understand that. ..whatever it was.

I did notice that the two 'presumably' women replying were both in Mining/Industrial Corps? ..not sure if that means anything, but the only girl I've met in game was also uninterested in PvP or even Mission running really. Apparently she did PvP in other games, just not in EVE afaik.

I don't really PvP much myself, and it probably doesn't mean anything, but maybe it does. No idea.Very small sample group to rely on, and I didn't check their killboards. For all I know they go out and kill anyone who harasses their Corps.

..it's possible.

Either way, this thread is weird and you should feel weird.Lol

Ha, and the average age of EVE players is 28. I guess guys like that have been perfecting that kind of excellent comedy for the past 15 years of their lives. Smile

As Mr. Epeen will attest, 'it's all about him'. As you may have guessed, many women come up somewhat short in the peen department.

I agree that we should see more skilled female capsuleers as deadly adversaries and the builders of empires. When most prospective players read up on EVE, they see forum chestpounding, killboard braggadocio, nullsec pissing contests. That stuff tends to attract one gender more frequently than the other. Perhaps the sentiment that we should cast more light on EVE's subtle and artful 'soft skillsets' is not far offbase.
