Wondered how the markets fluctuated right before Retribution hit and brought us all sorts of new goodies?

CCP Recurve was wondering the same thing, so he went and checked it out and has decided to share the information with all you curious merchants, marketeers, moguls, and manipulators. Check out all the sexy graphs and charts in his new dev blog.

Please keep comments on the blog in this thread.

The biggest single buyer of containers in the period from the dev blog announcement to deployment bought containers for 28 billion ISK. There‘s a good chance there‘s a station out there somewhere where you can get a good price on containers on the secondary market.

We had intended to hit GFC's with a couple trillion ISK the night before patch like ninjas, but you guys caught that mistake and fixed it. (this made me offload an awful lot of implants cheaper than I wanted)

So we hit Gazes instead. They mineral fountained nicely for us. For instant profit as well.

Good job on this patch though, you guys mostly caught every little really nasty thing, what remained was not especially economy impacting.

I am going to sound one warning here. We have had some internal debate on this amoung the, je...cartel, and while this might cost me a ton of ISK, I will say it anyway. The lower hulls were slot limited....

PS: Did you guys account for the fact a crapton of cruisers are still in the cooker and due out in a few days? Or are these only cruisers that came out already?

It‘s heartwarming to see that the majority of players did not risk their money on CCP repeating the mistake from the introduction of Planetary Interaction. However, there were a few that did.
I do not necessarily agree with the assumption that mass buying of containers prior to Retribution was only about mineral speculation. Although there probably are people that gambled on the possibility of reprocessable containers , there are others that bought them for an entirely other reason: There are a lot of stations out there where they can not be manufactured because of the lack of manufacturing slots.
Now, for the smaller ones that's not really a problem, but Station Warehouse for example are hardly profitable to transport. I assume that you can see in your data that sales of such containers in stations without manufacturing slots was quite a bit higher just prior to Retribution than normal. I for one bought 'some'.

Anyway, thanks for the nice blog!

Here I used to have a sig of our old Camper in space. Now it is disregarded as being the wrong format. Looking out the window I see one thing: Nothing wrong with the format of our Camper! Silly CCP......

Anyone have a theory as to the CPI pop from March to April?

Granted this was before LP inflation from Inferno release.

Did fanfest have a big effect on day-to-day on TQ?

Was just talking about Inferno/future during Fanfest enough to justify the big gains?

Looking over SOV changes, only small campaigns and transfers, so I don't see big destruction/rebuilding as a factor.

The only other possibility (unlikely) was the fact that the Japanese release was in March.

Another proof that the market in EVE Online can be very exciting and is far from being a dull playground for bureaucrats without any imagination - quite the contrary!

The market, at least to some degree, is a violent and exciting battleground with schemes, manipulations, deceive and all sort of feints and hidden traps. It is a pity thought that often only a tiny tiny fraction of these battles and this excitement is revealed to the broader audience.

I agree. The issue is, the more public these entities become, the less effective they are. I still regret going public earlier this year.
We had existed in peace and with hilarious profits for years without even CCP knowing we existed. It is a double edged sword.

So unless you are trying to improve the game, see TMC articles, there is little upside to revealing schemes.

We do enjoy giving the game some content though. Just a fine line to walk.

I doubt all the container buying was based on mineral speculation; I bought some station containers at 15k and now am selling them at ~200K. That is clearly mineral spec. I wish I had bought 28 bil worth of them...

Huh? This isn't a QEN report. They discontinued the QEN reports after the Jita riots, this is just a post with index data.

To be fair, while the QEN did contain juicy numbers and whatnot for those of us into that sort of thing, it never shed much light on market intrigues and schemes and such.
