I unsubbed 2 accounts due to the last patch.

Just waiting for the timer to run out.

Sometimes the only way you can make a company see that the direction they are going is by withdrawing financial support. Complaining on the boards is just not enough. Thankfully my characters wont be deleted so once ccp realizes how foolish they have become to target such a niche market then I will return.

When WoW extended the time between expansions, and made people basically run the same stuff for a few months, they lost 3M subscribers. There is a point at which people will not continue to play a game when they disagree with the path a game is taking. When one poster says they will leave if X happens, they do actually represent a portion of the player base that feels the same way.

I'll unsub when "Peace On Earth, Goodwill" etc., etc., actually happens....

Until then, I'm just another crazy kid with a dream who'll never get to be a real astronaut -- such is life -- so just happy to have a place to fly spaceships.

Due to last patch? Why, exactly? Have you noticed that most people regard Retribution as one of the best expansions ever?



The hilarious thing about these hisec unsubscriber threateners is that they really seem to think their unsubbing matters. They all repeat the same mantra "but but CCP will lose many subs!111!" without realizing that these kind of volatile, non-contributing players mean nothing to CCP.

You have to understand subscribers from CCP's perspective, they have a business to run.

See, on the other side you have the Alfas. Loyal, content-creating, multi-account Eve fans who've been with them for years. These people, the majority, keep the universe alive, fed with action, conflict and drama- inspiring content as CCP defines it. They write blogs and columns, 3rd party programs, run killboards, corporations, alliances and coalitions. They are the target audience. The people to whom CCP created this game. Alfas are cheap in terms of dev resources, it's enough to keep the game balanced, and these guys will play on forever- because they are not playing with the game, they play with each others. It's like a traditional board game for them, awesome in good company.

Then on the other side of the spectrum are the Betas. The flip-floppers, the come-and-gos, the ten-a-pennies. Highly volatile, instant gratification consumer types who split their time between dozens of games and will move on when the next hit title hits the shelves. Their contribution to the game universe is nothing more than leeching, or often strictly negative in the form of forum whines, and bad influence to new players who could be Alfas. These players are demanding in terms of dev resources. They want new shiny all the time and demand to be entertained, they want the basic mechanics of the game chaged, and they clog the customer service because they never bothered to read the rules of the game. They don't like challenges, EVE is like a film to them, where they want to be star without even learning the lines.

Which group would you prefer, as the owner of this virtual world? Which ones would you want to attract, when you've been successful for 10 years without a huge influx of the Beta types? What if CCP doesn't need your sub money?

Consider this next time you threaten to unsub.

if high sec becomes unplayable, i'll just dock to train for the duration of an expansion, pop my head out like Punxsutawney Phil... and if it looks like a long winter, ...redock, remap, skillqueue.

I pay my sub with cash when I'm taking a break from the game, but when I'm actually playing it I use PLEX. It only takes 2 hours of ratting per account, or 12 freighter ganks.

Glad to see human kind may be sharply divided in two classes.

Also, alpha personalities are .rare, have luck funding a MMO with those 5k players.

People will unsubscribe if you keep on making such posts.

But you're right. That argument can be basically interpreted as "I don't have any good counter-points so i'll just claim i know what will make players massively quit and appeal to CCP's desire to make money"
