FW and standings loss

Ok, so when you are engaged in FW you are no longer able to enter the opposing empires space without facing their navies, right? Does this only happen once you hit a certain negative standing with that empire, or is it automatically? Also, does this happen as soon as your corp enters into FW, or only as you actively participate in the fights?

TL;DR I am a miner and don't want to be limited in where I go, nor be fair game to PC's while in HS (Gankings aside). Will being in a corp that does FW cause these things to happen, or do I have to engage in the fighting for it to start?

I tried to find the answers on Forum / Wiki, but failed. Perhaps I am just blind, if you can point in right direction that would also be great.

It's automatic: Players in FW corporations are attacked by enemy Navy NPCs when entering high-security space belonging to either of their enemy factions.
And it does not matter if you are a member of a FW millitia or in a FW enlisted player corporation.
