Issues, Workarounds & Localization

Hello spacemen and spacewomen,

Yesterday I decided to come back into EVE after 8 months. I had to do a fresh install. When I tried to launch the game, from the eve launcher or directly from the .exe file, my screen would flicker black, then my comp would half-freeze (I could hear the eve music but couldn't see the login screen. Only way to get out of this was to ctrl alt delete.

I tried MANY solutions proposed on the forums, won't even start to write all of them down (Complete reinstall, emptied cache, checked if I had direct x, video card drivers updated, etc.)

Now I found the solution it seems. This morning when I woke up I recalled having several problems in the past with other game due to my laptop switchable graphics. So I tried something... I disabled my good video card and enabled the intel integrated chipset. Launched EVE fromt he .exe file and then... it worked.

Afterwards I went into the EVE options and disabled the: show introduction movie option, in general settings.
Then I selected fixed window as display.

I closed EVE, put back my good graphic card on and it worked

My laptop is a Pavilion dv6
i5 2410m, 2.3 ghz
6gb ram
radeon 6490m gfx card
ad I run windows 7
(for those who don't understand the switchable graphic term, it means that the computer has 2 graphic card inside, one is ****, the other is good)

I hope one or all of those things help someone out there. Write something in here if it worked for you please!
